On May 19, 2022, National Association of Realtors® (NAR) reported that regional existing home sales in the Northeast increased 1.5% to an annual rate 673,000 homes in April of 2022 from of March 2022, but fell 10.7% from April of 2021. The median price in the Northeast was $412,100 in April 2022, rose 8.1% from April of 2021.
Home sales in the Midwest up 3.1% to an annual rate 1.310,000 homes in April of 2022 from of March 2022, but decreased 1.5% from April of 2021. The median price in the Midwest was $282,000 in April of 2022, gained 8.7% from April of 2021.
Home sales in the South down 4.6% to an annual rate 2.490,000 homes in April of 2022 from March of 2022, and lower 5.7% from April of 2021. The median price in the South was $352,100 in April of 2022, jumped 22.2% from April of 2021.
Home sales in the West declined 5.8% to an annual rate 1.140,000 homes in April of 2022 from March of 2022, and dropped 8.1% from April of 2021. The median price in the West was $523,000 in April of 2022, higher 4.3% from April of 2021.
Lawrence Yun, NAR chief economist, stated "The cash buyers, not impacted by mortgage rate changes, remain elevated."
