Ashy Sky Sunsets

Colorado Sunset

I wanted to give a national shout out to let everyone know that the Nash Ranch fire is under control.

All the evacuees have been allowed home and the area has had afternoon rain showers over the past three days.

I received numerous calls of support and offers of assistance during the emergency. Many members of the community offered to come with horse trailers that would take my animals to safety had the fire turned back to the North. I had offers of accommodations from many concerned parties.

Thankfully, my home and animals were never in immediate danger but had we been I know that my community would have helped me in any way possible.

This area offers more than beauty, it offers a true community and that is a gift greater than any.

Great to hear that you are safe.  I remember a few years ago when Alpine California burned and my sister was throwing things in the car and driving out of the canyon as the flames came roaring up the other end.

All of their neighbors were burned to the ground and their house was left untouched.

Hi Bill,

Wildfires are unpredictable and that is the only thing that is predictable about them.

Is it true that minnows are being introduced into vacant Phoenix swimming pools to deal with mosquito problems?

I like the idea but what happens to the minnows when the water is gone?

I guess we can sacrifice a few minnows to quell an out break of west nile.

Greetings from Virginia Beach!!!

We are experiencing fires here but nothing like what you are experiencing.  My thoughts and prayers to you, your family and community.  Glad to hear you have come out of this with no damage personally.  Take care and know you have a friend on the east coast!

Aloha Sabrina,

Glad to hear you are safe. I hope the mountains have a nice wet summer to keep the fire danger down.
