Starting tomorrow (July1) all stations in Oklahoma are required to have their pumps labeled as to the content of their fuel. This evening I found a Conoco with no label, Sam's with a label stating their fuel contains 10% ethanol or less, and Valero (122nd & Western) with 100% gas.  You may have seen the piece Channel 9 did regarding the damage ethanol did to lawnmower engines and other small engines. Apparently it ruins the gaskets.

Although you may pay a little more (I paid $3.83 this evening at Valero) You should see better gas mileage and better engine performance. For more information on this and which staions have the lowest (and highest) prices check out gasbuddy.com and the Oklahoma City message board. in our business of being a realtor, we drive a lot and while mileage is very important, it's even more important to me not to damage my car's engine.

You gas in Okla City is a little less than in NH.  We are at $399 - 405/gal.  I didn't know about the harm to small engines.  thanks for the heads up.

Joan, yes we are fortunate here in OK. Our average price here for regular is $3.80. Part of the reason is our central location and lower state gas taxes.

Hi Steve, I grew up in Del City and the gas usually is a little cheaper up there than here in the Dallas area.  But I hate to use the word cheap when talking about fuel costs.  Good to see someone from the hometown on here.

We used to run a mini-sprint/midget with a motorcycle engine.  (we still have the car and its for sale)  I recall mixing High Octane gasoline with Methanol so we could get the temperature proper.  But in doing so, we knew that it would not allow the valve seals to last.  When we used the methanol, it would dry up the valve seals and it would contaminate oil.

Tony....I don't know how often you get back to the OKC area but things have really changed here over the last 15 yrs. and definitely for the better. Downtown is vibrant and Bricktown is a really fun place, so if it's been awhile since you've been here check it out.
