In Response to Kathy Striebs Thankful Thursdays…Thank YOU for Letting Us Get to Know You!

1. What was your first job and what did you learn from it? My first job was stocking shelves at Safeway.  The biggest thing I learned is when you order 1000 cases of pearl drops your boss is not going to be happy.

2. How long have you been in the real estate or related service industry? I started in 1985.  Every time I think I've seen it all something new pops up.

3. What is your biggest fear and what have you done to try to conquer it?  My biggest fear is not doing a good enough job. To conquer it you might say I over compensate.  I sink my teeth into everything, I dont give up and if I do fall short I find comfort in knowing that I tried my very best.

4. What would you do if you knew you would not fail?  Hmmm, this may be counterproductive for me as the fear of failure is an integral part of my success.

5. What is a habit you would love to eliminate or change? The habit to not successfully exchange the good habits for the bad ones.  It is amazing how quickly we can pick up a habit that doesn't serve us well but it is like pulling teeth to instill a new good habit even when you see the excellent results from your efforts.  I am a work in progress.

6. What is your favorite meal (forget about calories or what you shouldn’t eat)  If it has chocolate I'm in.  Favorite meal would be steak and potatoes.

7. What is something you wish you’d done?  I wish at a  much younger age I would have learned to stick up for my self as much as I defended others.  Learning to say NO early on would have been good as well.

8. Who has been most influential in your life? I have never been one to be heavily influenced by a speaker or person I did not personally know.  My inner circle of family, partners, friends, mentors may have changed over the years but it has always been the people close to me that helped form who I am today.  Your only as good as the people around you, and I am fortunate enough to have some very good people in my corner these days.

9. What are your favorite business-related books?
Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki
The one thing Gary Keller
The 7 habits of highly effective people Stephan R. Covey
Extreme Ownership Jocko Willink and Leif Babin
Start with Why by Simon Sinek
Atomic Habits by James Clear
Good to Great by Jim Collins

10. Other than business books what are your favorite things to read?
sci fi, mystery novels.

11. What are your top 5 favorite movies?
The notebook, Hachi, The blind side, Shaw shank redemption, the green mile, Olympus has fallen, pretty woman

12. If I came to visit your city for one day what is the one thing I must do or see?

Lake Pend Orielle, Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort, The scenic byway, Any of the hiking or bike trails.

13. If I came to your city to visit for one day what is the one restaurant you would recommend?
Hydra steak house

14. If I was going to relocate to your area what advice would you give me that is unique to the area?
One of the biggest draws to this that it is a pristine heavily forested outdoor paradise, but with that mother nature will teach you common sense lessons.
If your driving and a deer crosses your path remember there are 3 more following.  Dont lay on your horn to move a moose because he will show you how quickly he can battering ram your car into a mangled mess. If you are used to driving in the city, forget everything you have learned.  Speed and quick maneuvers do not work well on ice.
If your walking in the woods pack a gun and bear spray as you will most likely come across a bear or a moose.

15. Do you have any special talents?
I love cutting gemstones, working with stained glass, and building things.

16 Do you have any quirks?  Like anyone tons of them.  I rub my upper lip or nibble on my bottom lip when I'm thinking.  I twist my thumb ring when I'm worried.  I jump out of bed as soon as I wake up so I dont fall back to sleep.  I take care of things the second I think of them so I dont procrastinate and forget.  I'm a night owl even when living a day schedule.  I do my best work on my second wind.  I never get bored.

17. What is your best character traits? Empathy and persistence

18. Have you ever done anything you would never do again because it was too hard or too dangerous? Be in an unhealthy relationship.

19. What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?  Create or make things.

20. If you could live anywhere in the world where would you want to live?  North Idaho I'm already here

21. What is something that we don’t know about you that would surprise us?
I'm an shy and timid introvert by nature.  While I have always been in a people business it took a focus effort to put myself out there.  I have broken out of my shell quite a bit the last few years but it didn't come naturally
