Since 1966, the HandlebarJ has been one of the most popular authentic western places to go, and still is to this day.If you’d like to “hang your hat” in the Handlebar, you’ll be in good company, where a slew of hats hang from the rafters, from old cowboys who have bellied up to the bar since 1966 (with name tags and all).

Handlebar J's provides live music seven nights per week and free dance lessons on Wendesday, Thursday, and Sunday Nights. On Monday and Tuesday there are dance lessons but there is a fee for the instructor.
The world famous Herndon Brothers band plays on Wednesday thru Sunday nights. The Herndon family and Handlebar J's were inducted into the Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame last year. The Arizona Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame 2007 Induction Ceremony was held at the Dodge Theatre in Phoenix, AZ, September 23, 2007. The 2007 Inductees were: Rex Allen, Sanford Clark, The Herndon Family & Handlebar J, Stevie Nicks, Buck Owens, Jerry Riopelle, Linda Ronstadt, Steven Spielberg, Dwight Tindle, The Tubes, and Mr Lucky's.
My wife and I began going to Handlebar J's Restaurant and Bar about two years ago and taking the dance lessons. We got good enough that they still let us in when we show up down there.
Here we are dancing the night away.
