One of the things I run in to a lot when it comes to fixing peoples credit is that they get paid only once a month. That may be on the 5th of the month, yet their credit card bills come on the 20th and are due on the 3rd of the next month. This makes their bill late every month without fail.

But, as someone who used to work for a credit card company, did you know you can call them and request the date your bill is sent out? This little known secret is often not even known by the people who answer the phones at your credit card company.

What I suggest, if you are in this situation, is that you call your credit card company and have the date of your bill be changed to the 2nd, so it arrives to you on the 5th when you get paid and then...BAM no more late payment charges!

If the person you talk to at customer service says that they can't do this, I suggest you talk to a supervisor, because it can be done, they just don't know how to do it!

Todd great idea!  I know how it is with my wife getting paid once a month...not a fun thing.. On another note, you think it would work for me as an agent?  Can I get this payment moved?  Yeah, my next commission isn't gonna come for another 3 months....LOL

Todd, that is a great idea, but one of the scams that credit card companies are now pulling is changing your due date without notifying you.  You get used to sending it in each month to arive before the 15th and they change your due date to the 10th, just to warrent charging late fees.. I have seen multiple banks pull this deal, so make sure you understand when your due date is.

Jeremy- Yeah, good luck on that one (LOL)

Thomas - They send you a notice before they do that, but what they do is they put so much junk mail in with the one page notice that 95% of the people just throw it in the trash and never see the notice. I'm sure you are right that it is their plan from the beginning, but they do tell everyone.
