Wordless Wednesday…Welcome to the World

Nesting season is almost at an end. We have one more bluebird box with 2 hatchlings (out of 4 eggs).

We participate in the Nestwatch program and as such we monitor the boxes and record data to the site.  A few weeks ago when Larry opened the box, the eggs were beginning to hatch.

The last time we saw anything like this was when we watched baby alligators hatch in FL.

Take a look and welcome this little guy to the world. He and his siblings fledged (left the box) just yesterday.

  Life is good!!!

There are two ways to live: you can live as if nothing is a miracle; you can live as if everything is a miracle.

I don’t think I am the only one who enjoys your nest watch program. I think the comment section speaks for itself Kathy 🙂

What a treat to witness the hatching. I love that they come out singing! Or is that the bird version of crying?  😄

Kathy they waste no time in wanting to be fed, and it does not take them long to take off on their own.

Michael Jacobs we've never actually been there to see the eggs hatch and this time, Larry just happened to be there to film part of it.

Dorie Dillard Austin TX we have so much fun monitoring the boxes and feeling as if we're contributing in some way.

Hannah Williams you are so lucky to have a nest so close to you. I've been cutting up fruit and the birds love it. The woodpeckers especially love the watermelon I put out. It's a great way to use up fruit.

Brian England They look to be about 6 inches or so. They were scary to me because I knew they were gators.

Leanne Smith mother nature never ceases to amaze me.

Sharon Tara it does, doesn't it!!!  When you get close to the box, you can hear them chirping for their mom or dad to feed them.

Joan Cox I didn"t mind seeing the gators come into the world but I know I wouldn't want to see snakes.

Paul S. Henderson, REALTOR®, CRS we're getting a bit sad because nesting season will be over soon. But they will start up again soon.

Carol Williams That may have been Larry doing a soft whistle to get them to move.

Jeffrey DiMuria 321.223.6253 Waves Realty I agree. If you doubt miracles then just take a look at mother nature.

Roy Kelley Thank you, and hope that you and Chef Dolores are doing well.

Bob "RealMan" Timm I am so happy about that!!!   Enjoy your meeting.

George Souto you're right. When they fledge, they can fly immediately for the most part. They may be a little wobbly though.

The video is SOOOOOO cool!  I've never seen a little birdie that up front and center before.  Was he making a lot of sound or getting air.  So so sweet!

The miracle witnessed when eggs hatch, never gets old!  And, the awe of their instinctive knowing about how to make sounds, open their mouths to get fed.
