Originally from my hometown of Chicago, this band adopted its name after being informed they could no longer use the name Chicago Transit Authority, their original name.

Known early on for their use of a full horn section, unusual for the time they had hit after hit with songs like Color My World and Make Me Smile. In 1978 guitarist Terry Kath died in a tragic accident and his hard-charging guitar and distinctive deep voice changed the band's sound.

In 1982 they released their 16th album which broke away from their old sound reducing the use of horns in exchange for use of synthesizers. Chicago 16 was well received and reached platinum status on the Billboard album chart.

Our song Hard to Say I’m Sorry was included in the album Chicago 16 and reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. The song was featured in the 1982 movie Summer Lovers and received a nomination for a Grammy Award for Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocal.

One of the best-selling Rock & Roll bands of all time, it took until 2016 before the band was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. A long-overdue honor.

Today's song from the band Chicago, Hard to Say I'm Sorry.
