Teri Ellis realtorAs an Active Rain member since August of 2006, I have had the opportunity of getting to know many professionals within our real estate community. Active Rain provides each of us with an experience that continues to assist us, as Realtors.

This past week was no exception. I received a call last month from a former client, Jenni whose house I had sold 3 years ago in Sacramento. Jenni had moved to AZ. She was disappointed that she had not heard back about a job and indicated that she would be moving back to Sacramento.

During that month, Jenni did hear from the employer and called me with excitement. I was thrilled but sad at the same time, since her new job would be taking her to D.C.

Jenni's next question to me was to help find her a Realtor, like me. She said, "I want someone like you, Gena who knows what she's doing, knows the real estate market, knows how to market my condo and get it sold." She went on to say that she had looked at some of the agents around on the Internet and saw that they were all NUMBER 1...and laughed.

Immediately, I thought of Teri Ellis. It didn't take looking through a book, checking out the Internet to see what type of visibility she had...nope. I knew in the blink of an eye who would be the best Realtor for my past client...TERI ELLIS.

What made this oh so sweet is when my Jenni called after meeting Teri and said, "oh, Gena thank you, she's just like you and I love her!"

Teri, got right on it, met with my past client, took the listing, made her 1st video, plus professional video of the condo and now we all await the buyer...

Now that's the power of Active Rain and that's something that comes through reading and commenting and getting to know your peers. Active Rain is an asset in our Real Estate business. Jeremy, isn't it great, knowing more about a professional before referring your client to them? For years my referrals were based on the Internet search I performed while investigating them or from a book of referrals that may or may not have been the best choice. Now, we actually get to read and get to know professionals in all the many different areas and learn the different personality matches and skills so that when we do make our referral choices they are done with a lot more knowledge and forethought.

We are truly lucky to have this medium available to us through Matt Heaton and Jonathan Washburn's creative genius and all the Active Rain staff who continue to make this the cutting edge as the best community social media network.

Lorraine and Loretta, as you continue reading and contributing here in Active Rain, the selection of professionals that you trust to send to your clients on a referral basis will expand and improve. I've been here since August 2006 in the "RAIN Puddle" getting to know more and more Realtors, Lenders, Stagers and Vendors.

Yes, not only am I happy but more importantly my past client the current seller of the condo for sale in Tempe, Az is very happy.

I have no doubt that Teri Ellis will maximize her advertising and negotiate the condo for sale at 2333 East Southern Ave Tempe, AZ to the fullest extent and make it a win, win for all.

Great story.....I have had a few referrals from AR but nothing that has closed and resulted in a paycheck but not to any fault of the referral.....Looking forward to more referrals however....

Todd, sometimes that happens just like it happens in our own personal business. Just have to make sure that the person you select will serve the client just as you would. When it works it's like banana split.  Hope you like banana splits.

Hi Everyone,

By way of introduction, I am the client that is benefiting from this great partnership that you all have with each other and I couldn't be more thrilled to see all of this discussion not only about your network but about my condo as well! My thanks to Gena and Teri for working together to help me through this process!

When I decided to make the move from Sacramento to Tempe in 2005, I had no question about who I needed to have sell my house and that was Gena... I had already put an offer on a condo in Tempe and needed a quick sale. Gena sold my house more quickly than I could have imagined and I moved into my new condo 17 days later.

As Gena mentioned, I was thinking seriously about moving back to Sacramento and I did contact her about buying again in the area. Gena told me then that if I needed a referral to sell here that she could help me with that as well. After receiving a job offer that will take me to DC instead, I did contact Gena again to see if she could still help with that referral. I told her it was no rush - I understood that she wouldn't benefit from doing that for me and that I was asking a lot of her to take her time to help me; true to her nature though, Gena called immediately to tell me she would find me the best person. Later that afternoon, Teri and I were in touch and the ball was rolling.

As you've seen from the pictures and the videos, Teri has already put a lot of time and effort into marketing my condo and I really appreciate all of the extra effort and new technology that she is using to help me sell.

My thanks really do go to you Gena, for your unwavering willingness to help me no matter what the circumstances. If any of you have clients that need a referral, I wholeheartedly would recommend you send them her way. If I ever wind up in the Sacramento area again, without question, Gena will be the first person I call.

Jenni, what a wonderful surprise to have you here in the "rain." Your accolades are very much appreciated. You know that I wouldn't send you anyone unless they were "tops" in their field and I'm positive that Teri will get the job done just as I did years ago.

Selfishly, I wish that you were returning to Sacramento but know that I wish you the VERY best in your new position and hope someday that all of us (you, Zachary and Kim)will reconnect here in the Sacramento area.

Georgina, Nice to see you over here. Just today, I wrote an article for Jenni's townhouse on Sacramento Real Estate Voice and it took off on the first page of Google and Yahoo so it's just a matter of time before Jenni and Terri receive an offer.
