It's fun to look back over the years and see the significance of certain dates. I thought I’d share some fun facts for the week of July 4 – July 9!!

1994: Amazon, Inc. is founded in Seattle July 7 under the name "Cadabra."

1946: The bikini, created by designer Louis Reard, debuts in Paris July 5.

1930: Construction begins July 7 on the Colorado River's Boulder Dam (Hoover Dam).

1881: Wisconsin druggist Edward Berner invents the ice cream sundae July 8.

1865: The Secret Service is founded July 5 to fight counterfeiting and forgery.

1776: A statue of King George III is pulled down July 9 in New York City.

1776: The amended American Declaration of Independence is signed on July 4.

Hi Myrl Jeffcoat : My understanding Bezos wanted to call it cadabra short for abracadabra but his attorney when he heard the dame cadabra thought he heard cadaver and Bezos felt others could do the same! He changed it to Amazon.

Good morning Nina Hollander, Broker : In France on July 5, 1946 designer Louis Reard revealed the daring 2 piece bikini at Piscuine Molitor, a popular swimming pool in Paris. The rest was history!! France took the lead (as always with fashion) and we followed later after the scandalous bathing suit was accepted.
