Salary.com has ranked Plano, TX as the #1 city in the United States to build personal wealth.  As a resident and Realtor in Plano, I can wholeheartedly agree with this ranking.

Salary.com looked at the following factors:  "Local salaries, cost of living, and unemployment relative to the national average.  This year's list also factored in qualitative measures including diversity of industry, education level of the cities' population, proximity to post secondary institutions, percent of population below poverty level, and median travel time to work."

Plano has a highly educated work force - 60% of residents have a college degree or higher and 97.3% of our population has a high school degree.  We have headquarters or regional office for many Fortune 500 companies including:  EDS, JCPenney, Dr. Pepper, Countrywide, Perot Systems, Frito-Lay and hundreds more so you can work and live in Plano.  Our city has a wonderful public school system and access to local colleges in the area like University of Texas - Dallas, SMU and University of North Texas.

Call me today if you have ever thought of making Plano, TX your home.  It's #1 for many reasons!

Hi Linda...  Isn't Salary.com a great website???  Plano offers an incredible quality of life and will likely be in high demand for many years to come.  The large number of corporations that call Plano home will no doubt create an even greater influx to Plano of people wishing to live closer to work as gas prices continue to increase!

Glad to see the positive press on the area. I grew up in Plano, went to Plano Sr. High, and my mom was in the biz there for over 30 years.  I miss the area, and it's definitely affordable(except the property taxes) but I've fallen for North Carolina and been here since 1991.

I'm a former LSU Tiger so the Aggies were always one of our challenges!

Tracy - Thanks for stopping by.  What a small world.  I live just down the street from Plano Senior.  I don't know if you have been to Plano recently but it has changed so much.  You wouldn't recognize it.  Taxes are high in Texas versus other states but Plano's taxes are some of the lowest in Collin County.  If you have any friends in Plano still, I'd be happy to help your referrals.

Well, I remember the Aggies use to beat the Tigers but not anymore.  I'm jealous of those national championships!

Tom - I feel so good about living here.  #1 place in the U.S. to get rich and ranked the safest city in North Texas!  Can't beat that.
