On Friday, Feb. 29th
at 10:00 a.m. I joined fellow BIA members, and the community to
kick-off the 31st year of the Clark County Parade of Homes.
BIA and the 2008 Parade builders broke ground at the Moongate
subdivision in
Felida Washington.
Parade of Homes
Committee Chair Morall Olson of M.J. Olson Enterprises of Kalama is
enthusiastic about bringing the Parade of Homes to Felida:
"We're looking forward
to all the new opportunities that being in a new area brings.
Moongate offers beautiful views of Vancouver Lake and the sunsets
over the Oregon hills. All of our parade builders are
focusing on building
green this
year and I am partnering with Parr Lumber to build a High
Performance Home. We'll be concentrating on indoor air quality,
using the best insulation and reducing our carbon footprint to make
the homes more energy efficient. We hope to see you there!"
I have enjoyed the
Parade of Homes for years and excited to be part of it this year.
I love to see all the
new ideas in architecture, fixtures, paint, fabrics, we love to
take it all in. When you go, you may see me, the one (of many)
who is taking pictures and waiting for areas to clear to get another
picture. Some of my favorite features of the Parade last year were lighting UNDER the rock counters to provide
warmth and a subtle glow. I especially loved all the
Fleur de Lis
incorporated in art (see the bath picture above) and textiles!
Of course the newest in paint colors, techniques and tiles was
something to take in...too bad my camera battery (and spare) didn't
make it through the entire tour! Perhaps this year I will be
able to better capture a few more of the newest ideas and my
favorites!

I was staging a home out in that area this week and took a look at the Parade of Homes site. It looks like it will be very interesting this year, especially with the focus on Green Living.
