Leo Carrillo Film Festival in Carlsbad
Our weather and pleasant evenings offer a great opportunity to enjoy time outdoors. And if you enjoy historic movies, the film festival at the former ranch of Hollywood actor Leo Carrillo may be right up your alley.
The Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch Park in Carlsbad will host the 16th Annual Leo Carrillo Film Festival. The festival is on 3 consecutive Friday nights - August 19, August 26 and September 2.
The Leo Carrillo Historic Ranch Park is a beautiful preservation of the land, hacienda, and other buildings owned by popular Hollywood film and TV star Leo Carrillo. Leo Carrillo is perhaps best known as Pancho in the 1950s TV series “The Cisco Kid”. A visit to this historic park in the heart of the Rancho Carrillo master planned community, and its peacocks, is well worth it. Plus it’s free!

The Leo Carrillo Film Festival features 2 rare and historic films featuring Hollywood actor, Leo Carrillo.
Movies start at sunset, and the Park opens at 5 PM. You can take a tour of the Hacienda 1 hour before the movie starts. I’ve taken the tour in the past and highly recommend it. It’s great fun to see the history of this special place.
There will be beverages and gourmet snacks available for purchase. Bring your low-back chair, a flashlight, a blanket, and warm clothes. Evenings along the coast can get chilly even in the summer!
Before the start of the 1st 2 films you can enjoy an episode of “The Cisco Kid,” Carrillo’s TV claim to fame. Note – Movies are subject to change without notice.
