Fun in Carlsbad
~ An ActiveRain Point Store Offering ~
The ActiveRain Point Store was open for business for July 2022. There are a number of wonderful offerings requiring a range of points from AR members in case you didn’t see them. Picking 1 offering was tough but it was a fun post to write. And it’s been entertaining to read what others selected and why.
As a second option we can offer our own special deal in the AR Point Store. Here’s mine.
It’s a special trip to my corner of the world on the Left Coast.
And it's yours for 35,000 AR points.
You can bring 1 guest - just let me know so we can plan a bit.
Your 3-night Carlsbad Getaway (yes, that’s the beach town of Carlsbad CA not the Carlsbad Caverns in NM) starts with a flight from your home town via private jet from the Banana Jet Set Group.
If, by some chance, they are otherwise booked, you will be flown first class, roundtrip, to and from the San Diego Airport.
And if you live within a couple of hours of Carlsbad I’ll arrange a private car service to get you to Carlsbad instead of taking a flight.
Once you land in San Diego (about 35 miles from Carlsbad) you’ll be greeted by your private chauffeur-driven limo and whisked off to the famed Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in South Carlsbad, a lux fixture in the area since the late 1960s. You can read about the history of the La Costa Resort here.
You can enjoy a glass of champagne or wine enroute, and some tasty snacks if you like, while you take in the views heading up the coast.
At the La Costa resort you will be escorted to your 1 or 2-bedroom Villa Suite (please advise if you have a guest coming with you) to relax from your trip, and refresh, perhaps at one of their many pools. There are a several options for dinner at the Resort including room service (all included of course), and the choice is yours!
The next morning brings a couple of options depending on your preferences.
If you’re a golfer, you can take in a round of golf (there are 36 holes) at La Costa’s well-known North and South golf courses. Don’t forget to bring your own clubs! I’m not a golfer so I can’t join you – you certainly don’t want me tagging along! But I can meet you at the 19th hole, or the 37th?
I hear Carol Williams may do another road trip so you will have someone you “know” to tee off with…and perhaps get a few pointers. Or perhaps Ed Silva will make the trip from Connecticut and lend his golfing knowledge to your game and make it a great duo or trio! If either or both would like to be there I'll arrange it, gratis!
If you are not a golfer the other option, after breakfast and coffee, is to head over to the La Costa Spa for a massage (your choice of type), and any other spa services you would like (e.g., facial, other salon services). When finished, you can enjoy a dip in their private pool followed by lunch at the Spa Café.
You can certainly opt for the spa in the morning, and then go golfing in the early afternoon if you prefer to do both! Or enjoy the spa after you finish golfing in the morning.
Dinner on your second night will be a treat. I’ll pick you up at the La Costa Resort and we’ll enjoy the views of the sunset over the ocean along the Coast Road heading north on our way to dinner (yes, we will make time to stop for photos)!
Our destination? A multicourse meal at Jeune et Jolie, our Michelin 1 Star Restaurant in Carlsbad Village. You are in for a special meal at this French-inspired eatery!!
If the weather is wonderful, as it so often is in Carlsbad, we’ll dine on their elegant patio with heaters to take off any chill from the beach air. The inside decor at Jeune et Jolie reminds me of dining in Paris, and we can enjoy seating there instead if preferred. Then it’s back to the La Costa resort to relax.
The next morning is your opportunity to enjoy the water, test your sea legs, and try out surfing or stand-up paddle boarding. Kahuna Bob’s Surf School in Carlsbad will provide equipment and surfing lessons if you are interested.
Or you can opt for learning about stand-up paddle boarding from 2 Stand-up Guys at the Carlsbad Lagoon (flat water). You might be able to squeeze both in if you have the energy. I’ll get you where you need to go!!
We’ll take time for a 2 to 3 hour tour of Carlsbad in the afternoon, focusing on Carlsbad Village. Or if you prefer we can spend a few hours at our famous Legoland instead.
Dinner on your 3rd and last night is TBD, based on your food preferences and whether you want to go fancy or very casual. We could even get some terrific take-out and hang out at the beach for al fresco dining while watching the sunset as so many locals do. Then it’s back to the La Costa Resort so you can relax and get a good night’s sleep to prepare for your flight (or car ride) home.
