I noticed when filling up today in Dayton, Ohio that gas was up to $4.09/gallon. According to the AAA, gas should be $4.19/gallon over this 4th of July weekend. The AAA expects less travelers this Independence Day due to the cost of gas, nearly 550,000 less Americans traveling than last year. My advice - fill up that tank before the weekend!

Hopefully with everyone cutting back supply and demand will kick in soon and prices will come down.

Gas pricing in Ohio is still lower than many other parts of the country.  I dislike the cost of fuel but I feel the more we as an industry publicly discuss it the more we beat down the attitudes of many consumers.

Hi Christina -- do you remember the days when diesel was less expensive than regular?

I think the days of $3.25 a gallon are gone. Even as we here in the US decide to cut back on our petrolem intake, China recently surpassed us as the #1 country importing oil. With a billion plus population and more disposable income, the demand is only going to grow.

Locally we have a grocery store that gives fuel discounts based on shopping loyalty - what a brainchild that was!! They put it together before the huge price increases started.

I wonder if they are giving that person lots of money for the brilliant concept which is now making them kazoodles of money...

Until they start drilling here it is only going to get worse.  I'm starting to long for the days when all I had to do was drive 5 miles to and from work.

I just tripped over my son's baby book earlier this week.  He is 3....gas at that time was $1.87 per gallon.

I just filled up here in Southern California and paid $4.48 a gallon, which is about as cheap as we can find it.  I think it's time for everyone to start driving hybrids and mopeds.  We can ride two wheeled vehicles almost all year around here, so that's quite an advantage.  Nice blog Christina.  Keep it up.
