Custom Property Blog Sites

By

If you are selling your home, you want every marketing advantage that you can find.  Print media is expensive and the effectiveness is difficult to track.  With homes taking longer and longer on the market to sell, print media can eat up an advertising budget very quickly.

Custom property websites are not a big secret.  They have been out for a while.  I had it in my business plan to incorporate them into some listings this year to see what kind of results I would get for my sellers.

Now Lane Bailey, did a really great property blogsite that cost him about $1500.  That home is a luxury home which allows for a luxurious blogsite.  Not all homes can afford that kind of advertising.  He used WordPresswhich has several good templates for blogs.

I have always used Blogger, and did my blogsites from there. It is very intuitive and super easy to use.

I have three such listings that needed a more nitty, gritty and yes significantly cheaper version of Lane's site.  I also couldn't spend the 20 hours or so creating it, that Lane did for his client.

So for $10 and about 4-6 hours worth of work, I created simple custom blogsites for my clients.

5120 Hill Villa

38808 Main St

4307 Rogets

I installed statcounter on all of these blogs and promote the property website everywhere.  Each site has had between 200-500 views within the first 30 days of listing.  If you want an excellent way to promote the sale of your home during this challenging market, this is one way to make it stand apart.

Sellers, with the market being as challenging as it is, make sure you hire an agent trying innovative marketing tools to market your home.

Melina, looks like you did a top-notch job for your sellers. As you say, the end result is very effective and didn't cost an arm and a leg.

We make websites for our listings also -- but like your idea of using blogger for them. It might be something for us to check out.

MELINA - Those sites look excellent, and the price to create them was just right!  I've featured this in Active Rain Addicts.

Vickie-obviously budget dictates what you can do for your clients.

Bob/Carolin-Websites are just harder to manipulate I think. More work.

Adam-$10 to buy the domain name for a year. Can't beat that.  You just click on the button for blogger and it helps you do it.  Very easy. Thanks!

I am not sure that I agree with constructing new websites/blogs as a marketing strategy. You already have your own internet marketing machine, why would you want to point links and direct traffic to another site? Even if the website is created specifically for a premium presentation, you could accomplish that on your own site and increase your primary websites link profile in the process. I do not think this makes SEO sense but I could be missing another point.

btw - it look likes all of your images are broken on the http://www.5120hillvilla.com/ website.

Andrew-to me blogs are just easier to work with.

IMNJ-The images work fine when I go on the site.  Anyone else having problems??

The website goes on my fliers and I get a ton of click throughs to my blog and my website from there.  It's one giant circle. No matter where you go, you get me.  I'm only directing people to me.

I don't handle my own website.  It would cost me a good chunk of change to integrate this into my website.  $10 is a pretty good price.  If I was a heavy listing agent, I would probably consider it, but this is just too cheap to ignore.

Melina, thanks for the nice words.  The expense for the listing wasn't so much in the blog as the video production and virtual tour/photography.  And now i'm doing one for a condo under $200k... with a more realistic budget.

Leslie-thanks.  I love that Scio home.

Lane-I was working on my blogsites, when you first posted that you were working on yours.  That's the great thing about the blogsites.  Totally customizable in terms of time and money.

Great idea! I did visit one of your site! I usually do a webiste but not a blog site. How do you drive traffic to it? How do you market it? Good job! Thanks for the great information as it will come in handy for my next listing.
