In 1992, Independent candidate, H. Ross Perot, self-made Texas billionaire ran for President of the United States of America against the acting President of the United States, George H.W. Bush, and Governor Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton was elected and did become our 42nd President of the United States of America. If you are interested in hearing the debate in its entirety, you can find it by clicking on the link above or Googling "Bush, Clinton, Perot: The first 1992 presidential debate."
If you don't have time, or can't spare two minutes for each candidates response, you may be interested in knowing major issues don't change but people change. The moderator's opening question was directed to Ross Perot, who did not win. But even though I watched the debate in 1992, it wasn't as impactful to me back then, as I heard it again on 8/30/2022. The first question asked by Jim Lehrer, Moderator for the debate for each candidate was the same: "What separates each of you from each other? What do you believe tonight is the single most important separating issue of this campaign?
ROSS PEROT (U.S. NAVY, HEAVILY INVOLVED IN VIETNAM/POW/MIA)
"Five and a half million people came together on their own and put me on the ballot. I was not put on the ballot by either of the two of the parties, I was not put on the ballot by any PACS money, by any foreign lobbyists money, by any special interest money. This is a movement that came from the people. This is the way the Framers of the Constitution intended our government to be, a government that comes from the people. Over time, we have developed a government that comes at the people. That comes from the top down. Where the people are more or less treated as objects to be programmed during the campaign with commercials, and media events, and fear messages and personal attacks and things of that nature."

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION YOU MAY NOT KNOW
Before campaigning for President of the United States of America, a book was published in 1984 by Ken Follett about the heroic acts of H. Ross Perot, an American patriot, whose own team, "The Eagles," 'volunteered as groups from the executive ranks of the American Corporations, hand-picked and trained by a Green Beret Officer,' a mission, unlike anything anyone ever saw before with courage and self-servant leadership on their own to save lives.
"There MISSION: To penetrate a heavily guarded prison fortress in Iran and free the Americans imprisoned there."
If you haven't read the book, or know the story, and are interested in pulling together a TEAM to get an important job done, then I recommend finding the book and reading it.

the public debt should be reduced and the arrogance of pubic
officials should be controlled -- Cicero (referenced by Perot)
