Not Getting Many Comments On Your Post? Try This…
Recently someone commented that they weren’t getting many people to comment on their blog posts. You may have written a content-rich post full of links and photos or graphs but that may not be enough, especially when you’re new here.
And while commenting does seem to be down, there are some things you can try IF you want more comments!
- WORDS ARE NOT ENOUGH
No one enjoys reading a wall full of words. It helps if your post is visually appealing. Look around at other posts and you’ll see these:
-the use of clip art or photos (make sure they are not copyright protected) Here is an excellent post from Craig Daniels to walk you through it.
-Bolding some words
-Using white space for our eyes won’t cross
-Use graphics
-Add a video
-
COMMENT ON OTHER POSTS
This will allow Members to meet you and interact with you. Make Every Effort NOT to become what is called a “drive-by commenter”
Copying and pasting the same comment on every post will not get you many extra comments. You’ve read them! -
RESPOND TO COMMENTS LEFT ON YOUR POST
Not everyone does this and it’s their choice. But doing this is a way of saying “Thank you” for the comment.
-
MAKE AN EFFORT TO RETURN THE FAVOR BY COMMENTING ON THEIR POSTS
When someone comments on your post, try to reciprocate by commenting on their post (if they’ve written one).
-
USE ORIGINAL CONTENT
If you want someone to take the time to comment on your post, do them the courtesy of writing original content.
Time is important so sometimes you may comment on the posts of those who’ve commented on yours but not respond to their comment on your post. And vice versa.
Not everyone wants or needs comments on their posts. That’s ok…it’s their blog.
The key is this…if what you want are people to comment on your post, consider doing some of the above.
