What is value?

By
Real Estate Agent with Realty One Group # S.0190863

Value isn't price and it isn't even worth. You could get something overpriced that people may say wasn't worth it - and it could still be a great value. And sometimes, value isn't fully realized until days, months, years or decades later.

Here is a case in point. An insurance company wants a new jingle (around 50 years ago). They hire this guy to write the new jingle. Now, in the early 1970s, it wasn't BAD money. He was paid $500.

The young man was Barry Manilow. Here is his familiar jingle (and $500? Talk about a VALUE!)

Value is different for everyone and things that one person sees value in, another person might not find value.

Good morning Rocky. Sometimes the best "values" are not recognized until much later. Sometimes, what one thinks is valueless is priceless for another. Enjoy your day.

Rocky those commercials were simple and timeless.  They belong in the commercial hall of fame.  ☺️

Hi Rocky- wow, this makes me want to go back and revisit old jingles/ads. And when I saw the Allstate ad, I started singing the jingle in my head.

Barry Manilow was very creative. He wrote numerous songs for Bette Midler.

Value as price is always in the eye of the beholder. The goal is to learn what the seller or buyer values which sometimes isn't as easy as one thinks.

Something I say to every seller:  Your house is worth what a buyer wants to pay.

Of course appraisal plays a part but your house WILL be compared to others, especially other on market homes the same time yours is up for sale.

All is relative when we consider "worth" ... it's a matter of opinon and time does tell a story.

Loved your two examples:  For the price paid the worth is amazing!  And one thing about jingles is they stay with you for a LONG TIME!
