Pollo Campero, Open in Gaithersburg, Maryland

 

Pollo Campero, the Guatemalan- born fast-food chain, announced the grand opening of a new location in Gaithersburg at 426 N. Frederick Avenue.

The restaurant specializes in chicken based on family recipes passed down from generation to generation and a fried chicken recipe that is considered a national treasure of Guatemala, according the release. The restaurant’s chicken options are hand-breaded fried and slow marinated, citrus-infused grilled chicken.

The chain has nearly 400 locations worldwide, with over 80 locations in the U.S. Approximately 100 more are planned to open in the country, following a $1.8 billion investment from CMI Foods, according to the release.

The Gaithersburg location was previously in Lakeforest Mall.

Good morning, Roy... not sure I've seen this restaurant in the Charlotte area as yet. We do have Viva Chicken which is Portuguese style and very popular.

Hi Roy -my guess is that they did not have enough traffic in the mall since malls have been dying

I've never heard of this business either..looks like they haven't made it yet to Austin. Sounds like there are restaurant chains yet to have expanded across the country yet. Sounds good!

I had to chuckle for a moment when I saw that signage.  I recently took a friend to one of our local El Pollo Loco restaurants.  She was upset because there was only chicken on the menu. She obviously isn't a student of DuoLingo.

Hi Roy- We used to go to  Pollo Tropical when we lived in South Florida. It was excellent. Wish we had one here.
