LET'S DANCE! NATIONAL DANCE DAY IS SEPT. 17!
Since 2010, America's celebrated National Dance Day. Originally held on the third Saturday in July until 2019, it was created by Nigel Lythgoe, co-creator of "So You Think You Can Dance". The goal of the event is to celebrate artistic expression and encourage all people to move and exercise with joy.
The decision to move the date from July to September was due to a collaboration with the American Heart Association to develop new dance material and video content for their kids’ health initiative, the Kids’ Heart Challenge. As most schools are off during the summer, the event was moved to September to encourage participation and support.
All is takes to celebrate National Dance Day is some rhythm or music and a willing body and soul.
