So the big weekend is coming up. Fourth of July, Independence day, a day off from work,  another day the banks are closed, and the mail doesn't run. However you choose to look at it, take a second this week to reflect on our freedom. Yes, you typically remember Veterans during Memorial Day, but why not remember them again?

In the spirit of full disclosure, I am a Veteran. I was in the 25th Infantry Division (Light) for about three and a half years. No, I don't need to get a bunch of people to say thanks to me. I just want to remind everybody that we all have our freedom to enjoy one of the greatest jobs on the planet because of Veterans and their many sacrifices.

And please don't forget about the boys overseas who won't be able to fire up the grill or hang out at the lake this weekend.  Feel free to get your community to send them some cool stuff, or even a few words of encouragement and thanks.

Thanks for your service to our country. My son is a medic in the army and will be going to Iraq in August. I think that the 4th is a great time to honor our military.
