In 2005, I started 2 blogs. In April, I started a real estate blog. Then in September I decided to start a personal blog to share all the happenings in the life of Max and Carol. They were both on Blogger.com. It was owned by Google so I figured it would be around a long time. It was very user-friendly and easy to get started, which is what I needed at the time.
On January 6, 2006 I wrote a very short blog post about going to visit our ex-neighbors at their winter rental in Apache Junction, Arizona. We took a day trip around the area and that's what I wrote about, with some links.
I don't recall how much later it was, but I received an email from a lady who wanted the contact info for our ex-neighbors. She thought their son might be her father. Whoa, Nellie! I know their son (and his kids) and I had no idea he had a child by any woman other than his wife. He had two kids that were teenagers at the time.
Anyway, she asked me for their contact info. However, before I gave it to her I figured I should talk to my friends and make sure it was ok to give out their contact info. I called my ex-neighbor and started the conversation with "Hi Carl. This is a little awkward but...." So, I went on to explain the situation and he said "Yes", their son did father a child by his high school girlfriend. Unfortunately, his girlfriend's parents didn't want anything to do with him and they kept him from ever seeing or having anything to do with the child. I don't know all the background, of course, but apparently they never did meet.
So, they said "Yes. It's fine to give her their contact info." Some time later, my husband and I were invited to a BBQ at our ex-neighbors house to meet all the family together." It was a happy reunion and they wanted to thank me for being the catalyst for the reunion.
Oh... Not only did Tim unite with his daughter, he found out he also had 3 grandchildren.
I have many real estate blogging stories but that, my friends, is my favorite blog success story.
Keep blogging. You never know what will come of it.
This is my entry into the October 2022 Challenge: Blogging Success Stories
co-hosted by Aura Alex , Leanne Smith and myself.
Carol Williams - I am gobsmacked and my eyes got bigger while reading your story. I found myself sitting on the edge of my seat without being aware. That's how much I was engaged in this story while reading. You did the right thing by talking to Carl first. Glad to hear it was a happy ending and a great new beginning for these families. What a surprise!

Hi Patricia Feager, MBA, CRS, GRI,MRP
I was a little uncertain about how to start that conversation but, thankfully, it went well. 😊
Carol Williams - you did well with ego. Very nicely done. It really was all about the client and his journey.

Life can sure have some interesting twists and turns. That was an amazing story with a good outcome.

Hey Brian England
I went to Arizona for many years before I connected with any you or any other AR members. They're a lot more fun now that we're friends.
Good morning Carol and it appears when responding on my phone, the comment was not published. Hmm? Your story reminds us the world is very small and we never know how our part in the world impacts others. Thanks for sharing a heart warming story.

Hi Leanne Smith
The AR Platform is NOT mobile-friendly. I cannot "tag" on my phone. And, you're right; some of the seemingly smallest things can impact other people in unknown ways.
That is a wonderful story. When we did DNA we were hopeful my husband would find more of his family.... however the one we found on ancestry hasn't responded. His mom was adopted and his dad flew the coop when he was a very young teen (so he could have younger siblings) and all kinds of aunts and cousins on his mom's side.
How cool that person found their daddy from your blog.

Hi Tammy Lankford,
DNA testing has certainly helped the search for ancestors. I hope, at some point, Donald can connect with other family. That would be amazing.
I love the story! What are the chances that she would read your post and connect the dots!? You really made a big difference in many people’s lives.

Hi Buzz Mackintosh
I was writing that blog for my family and friends. I never imagined anyone else would even find it. Just goes to show, you never know who is reading.

I love this story, Carol, what a true blessing to be involved in something so personal and tender! You just never know what miracles may be at play when going about daily life or in business dealings. A good friend of mine just re-united with the son she adopted out when 19 years of age.

OMG, Carol. This is THE. BEST. BLOGGING. STORY. EVER!!! Your story gave me both goosebumps and a perma-grin, simultaneously...then, you mentioned 3 grandchildren, oh my!
It's sad that the parents didn't allow him to see his own child but, how wonderful that he was reunited in adulthood. I wonder if the smile has left his face yet?
And, how cool is it that you were writing a blog then and the personal blog is what caught the neighbor's eye? I mean, the coincidences are uncanny, Carol! Thank you so much for sharing this beautiful story.
