Who Actually Eats Candy Corn?

By
Real Estate Agent with TOUCHSTONE REAL ESTATE

I was visiting a home last night and they had a bowl of Candy Corn on the table and when I was alone I just had to grab a handful why?  Candy Corn is Halloween’s most disliked candy and I ask why?  What is the story on Candy Corn and where did it come from?  Let’s discuss!

“Candy corn has existed for more than 100 years. According to legend, a Wunderlee Candy Company employee named George Renninger invented the confection in the 1880s. The Goelitz Candy Company (now Jelly Belly Candy Company) started producing candy corn around the turn of the century and continues the tradition today” this according to alwaysatreat.com.

So, what about you?  Will you or do you have a bowl of Candy Corn in your home?  I’m doing an Open House today should I pick up a bag of Candy Corn?

Hi Dick,
Gosh, I haven't had any candy corn since I was knee-high to a golf club. I wouldn't turn it down, though, if I saw some... just for old time's sake.

Good morning, Dick... I don't keep bowls of candy in my house as I would have to eat what's in them. But that being said, I don't understand the bad rap candy corn has... I quite like it and always have. Not that I eat a lot of it... but I do indulge now and then. Go ahead...  bring some to your open house.

Hello Dick - while I am sure it is available more often (maybe year-round), I associate candy corn solely with Halloween.   And come to think of it, the preparation and proliferation of stuff related to this holiday seems to "linger" and "last" a lot longer than my memory.

Good morning Dick,

I only associate candy corn with Halloween and I'd say grab a bag and take it to your open house! Its not my favorite..I'd be more inclined to have a bowl of chocolate candy but personally don't do it as I know I'd end up eating it!

Leanne Smith but can you eat just one?

Unfortunately not 😉, but I do eat a few because eating too many is just too sweet much like M&Ms.

I have eaten candy corn but I have never been a big fan of it, haha.  It would certainly not be my first choice.

Hi Dick-  like Nina Hollander, Broker I like Candy Corn and have a few pieces each Halloween!!!  I often eat it by biting off the colors one by one!  I'd still prefer chocolate but hey...it's Halloween!!!

Miriam Odegard turns out many people do but there is a twist they eat them with assorted nuts including peanuts which then taste like a PayDay candy bar!
