Today California's law went into effect requiring a hands-free device to be used while having a phone conversation and driving at the same time. My friend Randy came up with a great no-cost solution to this problem. It's not a solution I think I'll go with, but it is creative for sure. I think I'll stay with my Bluetooth.

Let me know if you decide to give Randy's idea a try.

I heard them mention on the TV that texting was still legal while driving in California.  Is that true?

Yes... texting was not ruled on.

I still find it disgusting that everyone gets penalized for the morons who can't walk and chew gum at the same time.

If I can drive and talk on a cell phone better than 90% of the population when they're not using a cell phone.... why should I be penalized??  Living on the LEFT COAST... Isn't it grand?

Dennis, I like it. Also, can you use a speakerphone to comply? It might be a bit noisy but it works.

Steve,

I haven't seen the law, but I can't imagine that it would be a problem as long as the phone isn't in your hand. I use my phone through my navigation system. I don't see what the difference would be.

Today on a radio call in show, some callers were suggesting that everybody get toy cell phones so that when the police stop them for breaking the law, they would find out that they made a traffic stop by mistake. Personally,  I don't think I want to mess with the cops or risk a ticket for playing a prank. If you make a police officer angry, they can always find a reason to give you a ticket.

Have a good one,

Dennis

Interesting idea- I think I'll also just stick with my earpiece.

Dennis, I'm with you there. A few might think it's funny, but most wouldn't - kind of like the water pistol - still looks like a gun.

Funny photo!  I think I'm going to try the clip-on thing that goes on your rearview mirror.  I heard it work well and would be a lot easier to clip on the mirror than clipping the phone to your head..lol
