Pasadena Gold Line Extension Project Takes the Back Seat

The hope of the Pasadena Gold Line extending 24 miles out to Montclair has been voted onto the back burner for the time being. Although ridership has increase quite a bit (Rail use up 19%; extension vote set, Pasadena Star News), the vote went to waiting until November to re-access the project and it's funding (MTA delays action on Gold Line extension, Pasadena Star News). This poses yet another road block for Pasadena and Los Angeles in their efforts to curb pollution and traffic. If you've ever driven on the 110 at 5:00pm on a weekday, you know why it's quite unfortunate the vote swung that way. With any luck, this coming November will mark the revitalization of the project, and ultimately less congestion throughout Los Angeles County. The MTA will also be holding a community meeting July 14th (Pasadena Star News), in order to discuss traffic and transportation projects and issues. If you live in Pasadena, and work in Pasadena, you might just think of biking to work, as we've mentioned here before, Pasadena is a biking friendly city: Smoking Regulations & Automotive Activity in Pasadena. I see people biking and walking all around Lake Ave. and Madison Heights (our office is on Lake).

If you were not aware, today was the day, when holding a phone to your ear became passe (First tickets issued for drivers using cell phones, Pasadena Star News). So put down that cell phone, hook up that bluetooth, and start putting voice activation to use (the function we all never really used but were so bewildered by).
