During the now-becoming-infamous Real Estate Radio USA interview earlier this week, I made the comment "I'm the Best Listing Agent I Know." Arrogant, eh?proud

Not really. It's not as if I said "I'm the prettiest girl I know" or "I'm the smartest girl I know." It's more along the lines of "I'm the hardest worker I know." It's a choice.

I choose to be a terrific listing agent. It's not a God-given skill or something I was lucky enough to be born with. It's a choice.

I choose to spend time (and gas money) properly pricing my properties. I choose to have relationships with exceptional home stagers and responsive home improvement contractors. I choose to be respectfully upfront with my sellers as to what they need to do to help me get their homes sold. I choose to own a great camera with a wide-angle lens. I choose to write killer MLS descriptions and ensure that they are accurate. I choose to work for a company who offers a 7 day/week showing service and to pursue feedback from all showing agents. I choose to frequently update my seller on the competing market activity. I choose to build and maintain rapport with my sellers so that they trust me when I offer advice and recommendations. I choose to keep my brochure boxes full. I choose to be prepared for and attend my appraisals. I CHOOSE TO CARE MORE ABOUT THE CLIENTS I HAVE TODAY THAN THE CLIENTS I HOPE TO HAVE TOMORROW.

I'm a heckova listing agent. Are you?

Awesome post.  I like the way you think and do business.  My wife and myself consider ourselves the best listing agents in the area in that we do the same things you mentioned above.   Also, with the market being slow, most agents do not seem to go the extra mile as far as spending their resources to further promote a listing.  We strive to be the best - obviously you do too !

We are also new to Active Rain - the resources seem infinite and we are excited about becoming more involved with the blog and thinking more outside the box per se.

Very well stated.  I wish that all Realtors worked with this philosophy.

During a recent office meeting we were discussing the motivation of buyers and why they were not being decisive in a buyers market.  After about 15 minutes of ideas to get the buyers to engage one of my associates said..."are we missing the point?"  Shouldn't we focus on the sellers and getting them to be more realistic.

It changed the direction of the meeting.

Great Blog!

It is tempting to take your course. I am also intrigued by your listing presentation. I have spent way too much time representing buyers....not that I dislike buyers, however, leverage is listings. Need to work smart; already work hard.

Hi Jennifer, it is a great post, and you are so right

It is a choice, and you have to make this choice every single day,

here in St. Pete Florida, it used to be easy to make this choice, but now we have to deal with a lot of over priced properties and sometimes that takes away a lot of the motivation.

Never the less, it is the right choice and we have to make it.

Jennifer, You are the best agent I know in Denver.  I missed the live radio show, but I did listen to it and you were great.  Good job.  Continued success to you.

Well done, Jennifer! It took a lot of guts to go on the radio and be grilled by those guys.

Jennifer rocks on a mic

Jennifer - You are correct, it is a choice.  It is one that requires commitment and hard work, but it can be very rewarding.

Bravo!  This post is a great "how to" outline of what we ALL need to do in order to be the best listing agent we know.   And I think this line: I CHOOSE TO CARE MORE ABOUT THE CLIENTS I HAVE TODAY THAN THE CLIENTS I HOPE TO HAVE TOMORROW is at the heart of your success.  I love it!

You are obviously pretty darn good. I applaud you for wanting to be the best. I agree that we all make choices in life and how we want the outcome to be really depends on what we choose to be. If we choose to be self-pity party poopers, we will be. If we choose to be the best and offers nothing but the best, then we will work hard at it. Love this blog! It gives me motivation to strive to become the best for my clients.

Hey guys! I've been so caught up in all the uproar going on at Broker Bryant's blog (and mine, as well) that I've totally been ignoring this one! Thanks for all your comments and compliments.

Let's go be GREAT listing agents (and EARN our commission)!

Jennifer:

Now you are one of the GOOD agents to which I was referring in the infamous blog post. Wow, did that discussion get crazy. You have created value for your clients and thereby EARN your commission. You are not being arrogant in saying that you are the best listing agent you know.

Every one of us should be able to say that about ourselves or we are not performing to our abilities. And, if it is not within our capabilities to be the best agent, attorney, appraiser, doctor, stager, mechanic, etc., that we know, we should be considering another career path.

Excellent post!! You go girl. When I have the time, I am going to listen to your interview. It sounds like you had your hands full if the comments were any indication.

Thanks, Lisa. Actually I really enjoyed the interview. While it was mildly combative, it wasn't nearly as much as you might think from the subsequent fall-out.

Congrats on your feature!
