Choosing Exterior Siding Based on Personality

A home is where people feel safe and where family moments are made. It is also a place where people can express their style and personality.

When building a house, it is important to pick out suitable materials that compromise a large and prominent part of the structure. And choosing the right color of siding and trim for a house is a matter of personal taste, practicality, and architectural elements. Here is a list of tips on choosing exterior siding based on personality:

  • Know Your Preference

Knowing personal preferences when deciding on a siding color is vital. If you like a warm cozy exterior, opt for siding colors in medium brown shades, pastels, or beige. Choose white, pale yellow, or light tan siding for a light and bright exterior design. This might show strongness in personality.

  • Choosing Glass

Choosing glass as a cladding or exterior siding is not a usual decision and comes with a price, as it brings a pretty modern and sophisticated house look. Choosing glass can easily allow natural light to come in and usually block out dangerous sun rays when installed correctly.

Additionally, it's very energy efficient as it can maintain temperature from inside the house and is durable enough to protect you from outside elements. However, there are several things that people might want to consider; it's pricey when putting them up, and also, having them almost always cleaned is hard. To add, it may also open specific issues regarding privacy.

  • Know Your Neighborhood

Getting to know the look and style of the neighborhood is essential. Driving around and taking the color schemes of the desired home is an excellent first step when choosing the color of exterior siding. Pay particular attention to houses. What are the design styles in the neighborhood? Drive through local neighborhoods to see appealing color options.

  • Be practical

South-facing homes are exposed to the highest amount of sun exposure. If the house faces south, then it is better to choose light-colored siding or a pastel-colored sliding. This will work, especially if the neighborhood or the surrounding doesn't t have trees to protect it. Installing low-maintenance siding and a color that will not fade as much is a great idea.

  • Choosing Architectural Elements and Style

Surfaces in the home, such as stonework, pathways, roof shingles, and driveways, will remain in place. Take note of this when selecting exterior siding colors. It should be coordinated with the exterior architectural features. For example, having brick accents or a dark stone fireplace will make the owner choose a siding color that flecks in color in the brick or stone. Siding and trim should complement the outdoor shutters and garage style.

If the neighborhood is historical, the house should adhere to the color guidelines and designs to keep it aesthetically pleasing.
