Saturday's Shots - Our Resident Blue Heron

I'm fairly certain I've shared about our resident blue heron in the past but, this time, he let me get closer to him than normal and I had to share! He is one graceful, gorgeous bird and is one of a small family of them that lives on our end of the lake.

I've always been a big admirer of blue herons and when we moved in, I loved that we have a family of them who live nearby. The only negative about them is having to wash the MASSIVE amounts of poo from the bimini top on the boat! Now that we have a larger cover, they don't sit atop the boat any more - thank goodness - and what is really odd, they don't sit on the larger cover. I think they just loved that bimini top!

Debe Maxwell, CRS - The first house I bought outside of Chicago was by the Chain-O-Lakes and I saw many blue herons. They are majestic! You're lucky the Blue Heron chose to be a resident on your beautiful lake. I miss seeing them in my residential neighborhood in Texas. Whether the Blue Heron lifts its wings or not, it certain lifts my spirits!

Blue herons, in a class of their own and I feel the same way about their majesty Debe Maxwell, CRS . Always thought where they are taller than other birds..like cranes, herons.. do herons feel like the tallest kid in 4th grade when they look around at other birds sitting on lake, pond or ocean rocks at the beach?
