Countertops are made and prepared in such ways that durability comes first. But in some situations, even the most standard countertops experience issues from time to time. This must be installed properly, appropriately, and regularly to get away from problems concerning your countertop. Still, for some reason, even if you took good care of it, many issues might arise.

Below are some countertop issues and the solutions you may take to deal with them.

  1. Cracked Countertop Issue

A cracked countertop is bad. However, it affects only a little part of your countertop. Many people fear replacing the whole counter to fix the damage, but in many situations, the isolated damage can be separately fixed from the whole slab.

For smaller cracks, the manufacturer advises epoxy resin to repair the damage. For deeper cracks or damage caused by excessive weight, the damaged part must be replaced by using a drill before applying special filler. It is essential to discover a filler material that flawlessly gets mixed with your countertops. This is a tricky task, and only professionals can help you.

  1.     Crack on the Edge of Appliance or Furniture Supported by Countertop

Heavy appliances that depend on countertops to hold them need some support to balance everything. Countertops need to be installed with adequate reinforcements; heavyweight appliances can lead to the subsequent breakdown of materials.

Adequate support is mandatory for all heavy appliances. Place vents are required for appliances that exert heat to prevent the shelf from cracking because of heat damage.

  1.     Dull Granite Countertops and Chemical Stains

A countertop’s surface determines the type of cleaner that you must use. If you use brutal cleaners on the surface of your marble shelf, they will have rapidly devastating results. Somehow, granite tends to appear fine at first, but afterward, its quality will be reduced because of its exposure to brutal cleaning products.

Instead of using these cleaning items, use soap and warm water to gently clean its surface. Also, always read out the cleaning agents' ingredients before using them on any surface.

  1.     Stains on Countertops from Hot Dishes

Countertops are designed in a way where that can resist force and heat. However, they can get damaged. At some point, an excessively hot container can end up with a visible base on your shelf. Sometimes, its damage is nonexistent; however, the hot container may somehow leave a mark or a blemish that will always remind you of your mistake.

Here is the step on how to remove these stains:

a. Apply lemon juice to the stain and leave it to dry for about 5-10 minutes.

b. Then apply a layer of toothpaste to the surface with a rubber spatula.

c. Use a soft-bristled brush or toothbrush to scrub the stain.

d. When the stain has vanished, clean surfaces with a crisply wet towel.

  1.     Scratches and Chips on Countertop Surface

Scratches are the common issues found on countertops. Removing these scratches and chips on countertops is not that easy and is a bit complicated, but you can try these steps:

a. Apply concealing tape over the encompassing shelf space to uncover the damaged area.

b. Using an extremely sharp edge to rub off the excess filler for a smooth wrap-up

c. Place a piece of clear tape over the recently filled chipped surface. This powers the gum further into the chip to give a more solid seal.

d. Mix an epoxy pitch with the fitting shading colors to precisely match your granite color.

A cleaner kitchen is a sign of a healthy living habit, and countertops play a major role in it, so follow these hacks today and start fixing and repairing your countertops at home.
