I just got back recently from a week vacationing in Corolla, NC in the Outer Banks.  All in all, it was a relaxing vacation.  However, it seems like we need a vacation after we return from vacation!  It seems like it takes a lot of time and planning just to get away for a week but I should feel fortunate to be able to get away, I guess!

We used to go to South Carolina and we decided to switch it up this year.  I was much happier with the drive time!!  They say on the news that 2% less people will be on the roads this year compared to last. Well, I would hate to see those roads with another 2% on them!!

How about you? Where do you like to vacation?  For how long?  Do you feel refreshed when you return or do you feel like you have to catch up now?

Nick,

Thanks!  It is good to be back.  It sounds like you will have a great time.  It is nice to come back now and have some more time to relax this weekend except for showing homes on Sunday.

John,

Welcome back. My family usually goes to Destin at least 3 times a year. We have not gone this year. Hard to believe that just 2% less people on the roads.I would think it would be higher than that.

John, I took a vacation too , but then the shower ran out of hot water so it was over and back to the grind. Glad to have you back

For me, the week before vacation is the most stressful because I know I just have to get to the end of the week.  And get everything done.  Once I get back, I am in a much more relaxed frame of mind.

John,

I was wondering where you were. I have always wanted to the go to the Outer Banks area. We like to travel quite a bit, but our favorite spot is Kona. We own a home there and it is always nice to go "home" instead of to a hotel.

Mike,

How do you get away 3 times or are they not full weeks?  I guess you could go during the school year.  One benefit to home schooling from what I see.  The family wants to go to Disney next April, so I guess we are going to do that.  I never really wanted to go there but when you have kids, I guess you gotta do it!

Hugh,

You really gotta get away man!!  You can do it!

Karen,

I hear ya.  But catching up when I get back is a pain sometimes.  You are right, I did not do much "work" before I left because I was preparing to go.

Kevin,

I am sure we will go there again.  It is a nice laid back place.  We stayed in a nice house with a pool, hot tub, rec room with pool table.  No hotel, that is for sure!

I notice the older I get, the more I need a "recovery" vacation AFTER the vacation!  I went to visit the Amish in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania in early May.  It was one of the most relaxing and laid back vacations you can imagine.  Yet when I arrived back home in California, I needed a day or two just to get myself back up to speed.
