When Things Go Wrong, Open Your Eyes.

Months ago I wrote a post about accidently putting Crazy Glue in one of eyes. Much to my surprise the eye doctor says it actually happens pretty often. In my case I had a Crazy Glue bottle (not a tube) next to my eye drops and I just grabbed the wrong bottle. I am pretty sure Timmothy got his inspiration for the comic strip above from that incident.

I completely recovered from that episode and I learned some valuable lessons: 1) Don't buy Crazy Glue in a bottle. 2) don't keep any crazy glue near your eye medications. 3) There is little I can do without my vision... I'm sure I would learn but it would take a while.

Hopefully all of us see our vision improve from experience. I have been here in the Rain long enough to know that almost everyone here has had eye opening experiences. Experiences like that Buyer that you showed your listings to comes by with another agent making an offer on one of your listing (Yes, you were new and did not have them sign anything because they would never work with anyone but you). New agents, like we were X number of years ago, can walk right into a brick wall because "that thing isn't going to happen to me".

The best thing we can do is "Live & Learn" and keep our eyes open in the future.

From the moment that I put that on my desk I knew in the back of my mind it just might happen Cathy Criado . I wish I would have listened to myself and put it in a drawer instead. Lucky for me my eye Dr. is about 25' away from my office and he had delt with this more than once.

Life imitates art, or art imitates life.  I've come close to a couple tragedies when reaching for the wrong bottle.  However, tragedy was adverted.

Bob like you said "live & learn" not everyone gets this great concept... and yes, I keep the crazy glue quite far away from me... speaking of which I need to do some gluing soon:)Endre

I must admit, Bob, that it never occurred to me to keep a bottle of crazy glue anywhere near my eye drops. Can't imagine what I'd do with glue on my bathroom vanity! And I use it so rarely, it's usually dried up by the time I need it.

I can't even begin to imagine a situation where I would need crazy glue in the bedroom, but fortunately it is a situation where an emergency room doctor knows to resolve

Well June Piper-Brandon I sure learned NOT to put crazy glue in my eyes 😬 but you are spot on that we do learn and it is indeed the mother of invention.

I've glued my fingers together and my fingers to other objects but those did not require a Dr's assistance so just be careful when you get to that gluing Endre Barath, Jr.

Paddy Deighan MBA JD PhD the good news is that the eye does a lot of the work with flooding by tears and the glue solidifies very quickly so for the most part he just picks it out chunk by chunk. I did lose a bit of eyelash as well but they grew back. Now if I would not have physically held my eye open as soon as I realized my mistake I don't know what they do if your eye is actually glued shut.

That's right Kat Palmiotti . Lucky my unfortunate accident was repairable. I don't know if you can be a licensed driver with just one eye but that would be a bummer if you couldn't.

Nina Hollander, Broker my Love, North Dakota gets very dry in the winter and the skin near your fingernails crack and bleed for us guys who do not use dry skin treatment on our hands so it's just easy to glue our skin back together and keep on working.

Ed Silva it was right at my work desk and lucky for me my eye Dr. is just one door away. No emergency room needed. As far as needed read the comment above to Nina Hollander, Broker . To elaborate a little further the indoor air in our long winters is very dry as it is usually cycled over and over through the furnace.

Ouch!  What an experience!  I'm glad we keep the glue (all glue) in a drawer marked "glue" and no where near eye drops!  That would definitely be a rude awakening!
