Yep the golfing capital of the world with 711 holes of golf and more being built has a robust bowling community! We have two 32 lane bowling alleys about a mile from my home but never bowled there, been to both bowling alleys as they double as a sports bar and host certain college and NFL team fan clubs which is another story later.
A friend of mine works at one of the bowling alleys and has been bugging me to get a group together and come bowl some Friday night. The reason for Friday night they have morning, afternoon and evening leagues with open bowling on Fridays. I gathered up some friends to bowl and other friends to join us for adult beverages and either cheer us on or laugh at us, they got their money’s worth with my bowling skills, more like lack of skills.
I was trying to remember the last time I bowled, not since I moved to Florida 14 years ago, not since I lived in Pennsylvania so thinking the 80’s? So maybe 40 years and 2 brand new knees in the past 10 months and I am in standing at a bowling alley with a ball in my hand thinking what do I do now? We rolled 4 games and was not a thing of beauty but a lot of fun and my future in the PBA was dashed!
The Villages is bucking national trends as locally bowling is growing while the rest of the country bowling is declining. Interested in bowling? When was the last time you bowled? Sounds like another reason to call me and lets discuss you moving to The Villages, Florida!
