The Power of Positivity
I came across this list on another site and it read, 8 things to remember when you think you aren't enough. I read through the list and thought, I can sure relate to these in my real estate career, even though the post I read had nothing to do with real estate. And, it certainly gave me some pause for thought and for things that are right in my life, for which I am grateful.
- Life is about progress, not perfection. Strive for excellence. There is something to be learned from every situation. We aren't all perfect, remember we crawled before we walked and walked before we ran.
- What you do right now can create a better outcome. In real estate this sure is true. What we do today will reflect in 90 or so days. So, make those calls, write those notes, and do those pop-bys.
- Positive thinking is your birthright. Don't get discouraged if you don't see the results right away.
- There is more right with you than more wrong with you. There are so many things that we do right every day that we don't even think about that far outweigh the things we do wrong. Never think you are more wrong than right.
- Everyone makes mistakes. Boy, do I know that. I was mentoring a new agent today and we talked about some of the costly mistakes I made early on in my career. Just think the original contract of sale was only a page long when I got into the business. All those paragraphs are because someone somewhere along the line got sued for something.
- Remember, you are exactly where you need to be right now. See #1 above about crawling, walking, and running.
- Be kind and gentle to yourself, you are doing the best you can. Everyone is their own worst critic. My youngest son reminds me of this all the time, especially when I am beating myself up over something.
- You deserve your own unconditional love and forgiveness. We all make mistakes, one mistake doesn't make a complete failure. Remember FAIL means first attempt in learning. There is always something that can be learned from every situation.
