Even the tiniest kids can have the biggest dreams! It’s our jobs as adults to encourage them to dream big, believe in themselves, and teach them that they have the power to achieve anything they set their minds to. Here are five ways to help you inspire the children in your life to dream big.

1. Be Supportive

Never underestimate how powerful your attention and support can be to a child. Many adults who’ve achieved their dreams can still remember the encouraging words spoken to them growing up. While it’s important to be practical, steer clear of being pessimistic. Whether or not their dream is the same as what you may have for them, always be supportive.

2. Teach Them Practical Skills

The first step toward helping children to dream big and achieve their goals is teaching them how to use goal-setting to break down their goals into smaller steps. Teaching a child how to define, set, and prioritize their goals gives them an incredible opportunity to map their path to success. Read the Kids Smart Goal Setting article to learn more.

3. Encourage Them to Explore

Some say they knew what they wanted to be since they were little, while others need to move from one passion to the next. Encourage children to find out more about their passions and interests because you never know where it might lead. Through research and exploration, kids can get more excited about their dreams. The more they learn and discover, the easier it will be for them to visualize getting there someday.

4. Make a Vision Board

Creating a vision board together is a fun and engaging way to show kids that you care about their dreams and ideas. A vision board helps kids to see their dreams come to life right before their eyes. It also serves as a daily reminder and motivator for them to keep moving forward whenever they see it. If you aren’t sure how to go about creating a vision board, check out the Vision Board for Kids article to get more information.

5. Be a Good Role Model

Children learn from what they see so be sure to set a good example. Think about your dreams and goals that you can work toward and make it a group activity. Seeing the adults around them talk openly about their dreams and aspirations, and working toward achieving them, encourages children to do the same. Set aside time to check in with one another and discuss the progress that you’ve both made. This gives them something to look forward to and motivates them to continue working.

Final Thoughts

Kids can be the most imaginative people on the planet, in the right environment, they’re able to flourish and dream big. Through these five simple tips, you can create a space that inspires and teaches kids that they can truly achieve anything.

Great post but at what age of kids are you referring? I believe there's a difference in kids' ages where they begin thoughts of aspiration however every kid is unique and different. Sometimes, in fact, most times, support from parents are not in the best interest of their kids, IMO, especially in their teenage years.
