Denver/Aurora will not Enforce Fines if Snow is not Shoveled Today

With the temperatures at -15 right now, the Cities of Denver and Aurora have made a decision not to enforce any fines for snow not being shoveled.    Usually, the snow must be removed from sidewalks and at least a path up the driveway to your front door (for emergency purposes) within 24 hours of the snow ending.  At 7 am the temperature was -16, and when I took this photo of my computer, it warmed a bit!

I felt bad watching the shovelers around my neighborhood shoveling when it was -16.   They had already done my driveway before I got up, or I would have offered hot chocolate.

Tomorrow should still be in the single digits, but then we will surge into the 40's and even 60 by Christmas!     This short artic blast will be in the rearview window soon!   Luckily it won't last longer this week!

Hi Joan,

How interesting! I didn't know that some cities have ordinances like that.  This must be a big business. I did see the Denver temp on the national news weather forecast and thought of you.  YIKES!

I can't imagine shoveling in minus-teen weather. You've got some pretty special shovelers to help you.

Sheri Sperry - MCNE® it is still -11, so not getting much warmer.   We have had the ordinances in place for quite some time, as some homeowners (or tenants) don't shovel sidewalks, and the kids walking to school slip and fall, or the dog walkers.

HI Joan.... I started shivering just looking at your pictures! We certainly don't have shoveling ordinances like yours... don't get snow often enough and basically we just wait a day for it to melt. Stay warm!

Nina Hollander, Broker there are some storms that will melt by noon the next day, but ours won't melt until Saturday until we get above freezing again!   Did you get my Amazon gift?

Yesterday was cold here also! Luckily we shoveled/plowed the day before when it was -8º and didn't need to do it yesterday when it was even colder.

It's good the area is smart about the fines. If it's that cold, most people should just stay home where it's nice and toasty.

ugh,  I can't imagine shoveling in below zero weather!! I am glad the freezing weather will let up soon. Although based on the first photo, it certainly is beautiful to look at!
