It has been a few weeks since I started these shots for my allergies. My first post certainly attracted some great comments.
Well this has been the best of medicine for me. For 20-30 minutes, I read, erase old cell phone messages, clean my purse or catch up on TV gossip in the tabloids .... but this little girl and her mom came in. I will share with you the conversation give or take (but you will get the just) that prevented me from doing any of the above because I was listening with my whole heart and soul!
"Honey, now you have to wait your turn to get your shot and this will make you feel better. Not right way, but it is going to be good for you." Said the caring mother.
"OK, Momma, but will you go in with me?" asked the cute little girl.
"Yes I will, honey, and you are going to be brave too, right?" answered the caring mother
"Yes, momma, I will be brave, but will it hurt?" asked the cute little girl
"Well, it might just for a second, but you need to get these shots honey, they will make you feel better and you won't be sick all the time." replied the caring & loving mother
(They read a story together to speed up the wait time. it was busy than usual in there that day. I was called for my dose and didn't want to miss any conversation they might have after the book. I returned next to the two now finishing up the story)
"Momma, I want to talk about this some more." said the cute little girl
"Talk about what? Honey?" said the well contented mother thinking the concerns about her 'shot' were well rested
"I want to talk about being brave and getting my shot. Because mom, I am just T-E-L-L-I-N-G you that I might cry. I just might and that doesn't mean I am not brave, I WILL be brave, but I am just telling you that I might cry and that it is OK to cry and I can still be brave even if I cry. I know some brave people cry and I can be brave like them too and still cry. Ok mom?" said the CUTE little girl.
She might have a point here!
(This picture is not of the little girl in the office, but of one watching or maybe waiting for a local baseball game to be over!)
