If you're considering updating your home, maybe your kitchen, and making changes to the interior finishes, what do you do with the existing finishes? Chances are your existing, old fixtures will end up in the landfill if you don't resell them. But how do you go about selling your old household features and fixtures?
In the present day, it's not as simple as telling your neighbors you want to swap out a kitchen. But that's exactly what a Paradise Valley couple did back in 1997. The result? The creation of a nonprofit for this exact purpose. Donate instead of sending these interior finishes to the landfill.
A couple in Paradise Valley had told their neighbors to take whatever they wanted from their home since they were going to remodel after they returned from a vacation. When the couple returned, their entire kitchen and many more features were gone! The idea for a non-profit of these items was created by personal experience.
Stardust Building Supply was born and is celebrating their 25th anniversary. To date, the non-profit, has helped to divert 80 million tons of remodeling items from landfills in the Phoenix metro area. Not stopping there, the items are resold to the public and the proceeds benefit 13 other non-profits. An honorable non-profit!

Items range from appliances, cultured marble tops, toilets, bathtubs, light fixtures, doors, door hardware and full sets of cabinets. Sales are common to empty inventory so revisit often if you're looking for specific items. Sometimes high priced appliances are donated!
Recently, I searched the Mesa 30,000 square foot warehouse to replace a cultured marble countertop for a listing. The existing cabinet size is not supported by the current models available for sale. So donated items will fit older homes, thereby saving homeowners from waiting for new products with delays due to the supply chain debacle.
These are photos of the Mesa store, housing 30,000 of building supplies available for sale to the public!
