Well, I'm jumping in...I have officially launched my new website...I am excited.  It has been truly a rewarding experience for me.  The late nights, brainstorming...deleting pages, starting over from scratch...I am plum tired.  Losing all sense of time was the main breakdown for me...debating whether over the color palate and capturing the true essence of what I wanted my viewers to see was a nightmare in it's self.  Allowing others to see you through your eyes......wow, what a deep thought of self exposure revealed.

Please take a look at the site and let me now what you think...

Is the color to strong?

Does it make you want to revisit it?

Is the content appropriate and direct to the point?

Is more information needed?

I know I may need to tweek, so please let me know what you think.

WWW.UKENotary.com is the site...Take a Look!

Did you do this yourself?  I want to make one myself, what software did you use?

I think it looks great, and I like the color.  The only thing I find distrating are the spinning parts.  Good luck with your business!

Such a challenge to try to perfect everything.  Congrats on your launch!

In general, looks good.  Your coloring is OK, not great, not bad.  If you change it at all, keep it plain and simple.  Your picture needs to be better, it is a bad distorted picture of you.  I agree with Lisa, the spinning circles are annoying - KISS (Keep it simple stupid).   On areas of coverage/fees, first line on right side below quote & phone numbers, ...apologies in advanc    <--- has the 'e' on advance cut off.  Not sure if that is my browser or the way you made the page.  BTW, for my own curiosity, as far as your fees, is the following correct estimates (assuming not after hours, etc and one Jurat & one Acknowledgment [$5/ea = $10])

  1. 3 miles from your home (6 Miles total)--> Notarization Fees $10 + $30 Conv Fee = Total $40
  2. 11 miles (22 total miles)--> Travel $18 + Notarization Fees $10 + $30 Conv Fee = Total $58

One the Contact the UKE Notary page the links - the graphics are blurry, you should be able to get better pics from the NNA website.

Thanks for the comments...

Nancy: Yes, I did this myself....I will send the information to you....

Lisa: Thanks for the well wishes....I must admit I find them be distracting too....just wanted to find a way to link to the design in the header....

Shar:  Oh you said it right...Thanks!

Ron:  Thanks for the intensive review. You were able to point out some things that I didn't see due to be to close to project...I am very grateful for your observation.  The distraction was eliminated.  I have made the necessary corrections as per your suggestions...However, I like the colors because they link with my logo perfectly.

As for the general notary charges I can't do anything about that one...due to PA mandates....notary fees were recently was increased from $2.00 to $5.00.  This fee schedule was geared for the general public and placed on the website as a FYI.  I performed a 4 month tedious research by looking at what my competitors were charging locally and nationally.  I found  that many of them were only charging the notary fee and a very little or no mileage fee.  Some people were willing to drive 20 miles or better without obtaining a travel fee. I did find a unified charged of a $1.50 per mile national.  My research included website surveys and direct calling to 200 notaries.

Basically, I charged accordingly on how I was compensated for doing Safe Deposit Inventories for Banks.  I was paid for mileage roundtrip at 37cents a mile four years ago, a hourly fee and PA notary fee per box at that time.

Your picture is gone :-(    I guess my question was, do you always charge the convenience charge?  I was trying to site two potential examples and see if those would be your charges if I needed two notarizations and lived 3 and 11 miles from you.

Hi Ron:

The picture had to go...it was distorted.  :) Yes, I do always charge a convenience fee.  Although, I do provide a discount to senior citizens. Thanks for point that out, I will highlight that factor.

When I first started out years ago, I would over extend myself and realized that I was not gaining anything for the services rendered.  Often times, I found that people were not considerate of my professionalism, my time, the ware and tire of me or my vechicle.  The bottom line falls with value.

Hi Pam - I think you have  a great looking website!  The wording is to the point and sounds good.  The colors I'm not too crazy about, and you have plenty of information.  As someone else said, just keep it simple, and the less flashing, spinning, etc., the better.  I like all the tables you have.  They look good! Much success to you!

Hi Denise: Thanks for the well wishes...

Hey LaShon:  How have you been? Thanks and I definitely will update as to how it works for me....

Pamela,

I like your site overall (even though the color scheme doesn't do much for me It's personal preference and I'm just one person). As far as the fees go, the public will let you know about that. I'm curious to see how this works out for you, maybe you should write a follow up post in a month or so.

Hi Terry,

Thanks for taking a look at my site, I am starting to get some traffic....getting the traffic is the hard part.  If I get the traffic the business will grow...that's what I tell myself.
