Wedding Gifts How Much?

By

As I get older the number of weddings that I attend seems to diminish. When we do get invited we like to go. The age old question comes up, how much do you spend? Yes there are the bridal registry's. That gives you an idea of what the couple(bride)(lol) wants. As a professional I never want to come across as being cheap, how about you? With the cost of the weddings going through the roof, so fellow Active Rainers I ask you...How much per person do you spend to go to a wedding. We are going to a friends wedding in North Carolina later this month.

Any and all thoughts on this will be appreciated.

Sincerely,

Bill

Spend what YOU feel comfortable with.  Then make sure you eat and drink enough at the reception to make it worth while.  haha.

Seriously, I always look at it in, (a) how close am I to the couple and (b) what does my budget allow.

I am pretty good with crafts and learned years ago how to remove the back of a mirror.  (your local arts and crafts store will be glad to show you)  You remove only enough to show the announcement, tape it to the back of the mirror and then put it in a very nice frame.  I think once you have the stuff from the craft store, you can do several of these very cheap and yet everyone raves over them.

But it is always YOUR personal decision.  Don't be forced into over spending out of guilt.

I usually spend between $50 and $100.  My daughter got married last year and, of course, she got a little more $$$.  She said the average 'money' gift was between $50 and $100.  I think gift cost should be assoiciated by how well a person knows the bride or groom.  Someone I work with or don't know really well would get less.  It's the thought that counts anyway!

Mary, that is what I was thinking was between 50-100 per person. So we went online and ordered their gifts and spent 150. which is 75 per person attending the wedding.

I agree with both of you Mary and Tony as far as how well you know them.

Tony I loved your opening line. Unfortunately that would be a little difficult for my wife and I considering we don't drink, we would have to make it up in food. Which means we would show up as guests and leave as baggage. haha or maybe we could bring some of those food storage bags along and fill them up as the night went on. LOL...

I also think that it is the thought that counts. Tony being able to do something unique like you do adds an extra flair that will be remembered long after the wedding.

Thanks for posting. Hope you had a Great 4th of July. Enjoy the weekend and may you have massive closings this year.

Sincerely,

Bill
