Someone wrote a book saying that everything that was important to know we learned in kindergarten. The book was mostly about having good manners, such as saying please and thank you, as I recall. So of course he and all of us should have learned it long before kindergarten, but that's irrelevant.
I'm just thinking about people and good manners and how important they are.
Last week someone who purchased some of my prospecting letters wrote and said that the download link had expired and would I send a new one. So I wrote back and said yes, "I'll get that done right away." And then I did.
A couple of days went by and I wondered whether that person had received the new link. Most people do write and say “Thank you, got it.” So I wrote to this gentleman and asked “Did you get your download link?” I have had no response whatsoever.
Why are people that rude? I didn't have to send him a new link. After all, when they get the download link, customers do get a message saying that the link will expire within so many days or after so many downloads. So I think they should know they need to save the letters to a file.
If you ask a favor, and someone does that favor, isn't it natural to just say thanks? And if you're waiting for someone to send you documents or other information, isn't it normal when you get it to write back and say “Thanks got it?”
It seems like it to me.
Saying words like please and thank you is so easy that I just cannot understand why not everyone does it.
So that's my rant for today.
I hope everybody you've run into today said please and thank you!
