Monsoon thunderhead builds across the Tucson desert.Doesn't this cast a different light on the phrase "Active Rain?"  This is my favorite time of year in Tucson, Arizona.

Clouds build and boil, the sky darkens, lightning flashes across the sky, and the desert soaks up the precious rain!

I thought I'd share my favorite (so far) cloud photo with you.

If you'd like a printed photo, email me through Active Rain with your snail mail address, and I'll send you a 5x7 glossy.  First class mail!  (Why?  Because you're here reading, and the rest of them aren't!)  I appreciate my readers!

I'm Mike in Tucson, your preferred Tucson, Arizona mortgage lender.

Wow, what a photograph. Thanks for sharing. Actually, I'd rather have a digital copy so that I can use it for a background on my desktop.

Mike,

The monsoon season is my favorite as well.  Just seeing Mother Nature as all powerful as she runs her course with lighting and rain.  Love it.

Over the last few years it seems like Arizona has gotten the rain while southern Nevada just ended up with humidity. It's frustrating seeing the clouds build around the mountains but not getting the relief from a quick downpour. A good thunderstorm and some nice, steady rain would be a welcome break this summer (and maybe a couple of good photo ops!)

Hi Mike... what a dark, dramatic & beautiful pic, it definitely gives a whole new meaning to Active Rain.

That's beautiful! Instead of a print may I copy the photo to my computer? I promise only for my use- I'm with Vickie, above. I'd like it on my desktop. I love the monsoon. WE've had 2 storms so far here in Payson with rain, and the clouds build every day. Some days, though, they just blow around us. Here's one of my favorite cloud pics, taken (by my husband) by the Payson airport:

Mike, I LOVE the monsoon season (as it is called now). ;-)

As soon as it starts to rain, everyone runs outside to see the rain which gives us an advanced notice with the smell.  Love it! Love your photo as well.

Ron,

The closer to the equator, the more spectacular the sunsets.

And my reply ,

Never thought of that possibility, but that is an interesting point!

Hope that is clearer now.
