We've taken an interest in gardening, thinking forward to our next place and being more self-sustaining. There's a wide range of heirloom vegetables out there to explore. Yep, not all tomatoes are red or green, some squash are not smooth skinned, and there are various veggies out there with histories of many centuries.
There's a seed store in Michigan that caught my attention when I was researching seeds (MiGardner.com). They have a great variety of seeds, $2 a pack, free shipping at $12 or more in purchase, and some great information on their website with how tos, information about the various seeds and their history, etc.
IMO they've got the social media thing down. Their Facebook page is engaging, and if I was an Instagram type of guy I'd probably like that too. But this week they announced a goal of daily blogging, something that really resonates with someone that did the daily word tango for a decade before easing into a weekly habit.
Your first response might be, are they nuts? They think they can seed the internet daily? For a year?
I'll conseed that daily blogging comes with its challenges.
Do you have the discipline to maintain daily tasking? (what time today did I remember that it's NOT Monday and it's Tuesday and I have an obligation to post...yeah...10:30 p.m.)
Do you have enough topics to provide posts on a daily basis?
Can you maintain quality while producing that quantity? Keep in mind that ANY post written may be the first one someone finds and your first impression may be your ONLY impression.
Does your audience even want that much material coming at them?
Is your best use of time blogging daily, especially if you're not someone who can sit down and rapid fire produce a post?
Will your posts provide value to your target audience(s)?
In the case of the seed store, will I read their blog daily? Most likely not, but it's good to know the posts are there when I have the time, and since the posts are evergreen, I can come back to them any time I'm ready.
It's up to you whether blogging daily, a few times a week, weekly, monthly, or NEVER is the right choice for you. Personally, I know it works, especially targeted real estate evergreen posts. Years later, we still get calls from home buyers and sellers. It's why I can afford to no longer blog daily.
