Living without for sale signs!

Imagine living without for sale signs.  Can you?  I do.  I not only imagine living without for sale signs, I live without for sale signs.  I wouldn't have believe it if I hadn't first seen it in France, where I lived for 5 years.  I thought it was a French thing.  Maybe it was below them to have a sign in their yard even if it could help.  No signs.  But here I see the same thing.  Or rather I don't see.  Even in the southwestern tip of the beautiful Peloponnese, there are no for sale signs. Oh sure you might see a few. They pop here and there along the old dirt roads that meet the rolling hills covered with row after row of olive trees.  Go ahead and call the number.  Guess what they're selling.  It sure ain't that purty land.  It's their olive oil!  Well now you might be right, the land might actually be for sale, too, but that sign wasn't advertising it, that sign was just trying to sell their olive oil.

So how do we find land to sell?  How do we have over 50+ plots of land ready for building with gorgeous sea views?  We meet locals and we listen.  We read the signs, and buy some olive oil, too.  But you have to be in the know.  We know people who know lots of people.  And some of the people that they know, we even know.  We even know a guy who because of his line of work, has to know first hand when something is up for sale.  He is not a realtor.  He doesn't have a website, he doesn't speak English, but he likes us and we're selling all the land that he tells us is for sale.  Of course, it's a win-win, we're giving him a commission.  And we're working monetarily with everyone that provides us insight into what is for sale.  It's called networking.

Why they don't have signs is beyond me.  I've been told that because where there is no MLS available, the agents become afraid that other agents will take the sale.  Well, if they'd just be friendly and share the deal, what's the hurt?  And that's my point. We want to share the deal.  We'll be putting up signs.  Some of them will be on the net.  Like right here.  You're reading one of them.  We have land for sale in the SW tip of the Peloponnese and if you have a client who wants to shop here, we'll be happy to share the commission.

It's funny living in a place that's different from what you're used to.  I'm sure you find something like that each time you move.   Something is always different.  I am just glad to have these experiences so that I can put together the best of the differences and make a better world for those around me.

Hooray for signs.  Hooray for the intertnet.  Hooray for networking and making new friends!!!!

What is unique about the area you represent?  Any obstacles you've had to overcome?

Thanks, Andrew.  Yes, I do feel very proud to be American with all the entrepreneurial experiences ingrained in me.  I also feel lucky and am happy to be able to share it with the rest of the wonderful world we live in!

RV,

It all depends when using a "For Sale" sign or not too.

High traffic area`s are a must when selling a home.

Good Luck...

Viva paris..

I think there may come a day when we won't need for sale signs, and maybe when you drive by a home for sale the house will send you a text message!

Wow, Dennis, that sounds so Star Trek!  And yet, it's just around the corner.  I have a friend in Boston who designs signs with a # on them, if you just call that # then all the house details come pouring into your phone, including pictures of the inside and everything.  Just amazing.  But I bet you're right, one day the house will be calling you!  Well it won't surprise me and I'll be thinking of you when I see it!  Thanks, Dennis.

While a 'for sale' sign may invite some tire kickers, it is one more possible way to find the buyer for the property.  There are many ways, some include not using AR, but again, it is just one more way, one more opportunity to find the person to buy the property.
