I believe I was actually taught this as "Be careful of what you pray for" but what ever it's the same thing isn't it (except those who don't pray don't know who they are asking when they are wishing)?
I am sure everybody reading this can relate to receiving what they prayed for but didn't expect the exact results of our prayer(s).
A side note.
If you do know the God of the Bible you should expect Him to answer. My favorite Bible story on that is in Acts 12. A group of people are praying for Peter's release from prison: many people had gathered together and were praying. 13 He (Peter) knocked at the outer gate, and a servant girl named Rhoda came to answer it. 14When she recognized Peter’s voice, she was so overjoyed that she forgot to open the gate, but ran inside and announced, “Peter is standing at the gate!”… Here a group of Christs followers are praying, their prayer is answered, and they can't believe it! I think I have been guilty of this myself... I can't believe God answered my prayers. In reality He has answered many, many of my prayers.
