Thankful Thursdays…For the People I Don’t Know

Sounds a bit confusing, I know, but there are people I see every day who are a part of my life however, I don’t know them.

Oh, I know some of their names, and there are some I know enough to smile and say “hello” to.. There are a few we stop and chat with on occasion.

There’s Judith who plays the organ every Sunday…Thad and Wiley, his dog, who always has a big smile on his face (Thad, not the dog) …Sandra who twisted her ankle on a sweet gum tree ball… and many more.

There is also the gentleman we used to see and say “Good morning” to every day until one day in 2020, we never saw him again. Larry and I wish we knew his name and what happened…did he move away?

The young lady who assists at the self-check line chat when I’m going through and we act as if we’ve known each other for years.

I have friends and family whom I cherish. But I also would miss seeing the people I don’t know who make me smile every day…who bring me joy…and who have become a part of my world.

Life is beautiful not because of the things we see or do.

Lise Howe wherever I walk there as always been at least one person who seems lost in their thoughts...never smiling or looking up. I make it my mission to say hello to them. Nothing pushy though because I understand and respect their privacy. I've been lucky enough to get many to look up and respond with a "good morning"

Thank you Anna Banana Kruchten Phoenix Broker I remember Jerome...one of the first people I met when we moved to FL. He was a retired Real Estate agent who didn't want to play golf every morning so he worked a few mornings a week bagging groceries. He carried mine out and we chatted all of the time.

Kathy there is a sweet guy at our local grocery store that always has happy comments to all of us. The other day he saw me coming in the store and he quickly brought me a basket. I said...that was so sweet of you - thank you! He smiled. Nice!

It can be interesting to rub elbows with folks, but not really know them. I have similar experiences at the swimming pool at my club. I see folks there on a regular basis, and often when I become a little more acquainted I'm often surprised at WHO they really are.
