Wishing you all a fun-filled "Fourth of July" weekend! Keep it safe enjoying friends and family, and don't forget to think about the freedom we share in the United States ... freedom to celebrate who we are, what we do, when we work and play, where we worship, why we are a nation of free people, and how we protect the gift of freedom.

This is a beautiful, moving music video of a song about a son who became an American Soldier. It tells the story from his mother's view point of her son's service to his country. It is a tribute to all Americans who have served in the military and to their families who prayed for them while waiting for their safe return home.

This music video is so worth watching! Surprise happy ending! Celebrating America's Freedom. Enjoy!

Oh Jan, this made my day, with two sons in the Navy and one due to deploy to Iraq is March, I am in tears. Thank God for a happy ending. Who is the artist, I had not heard this before?

Jan, that was good for a morning cry.  All I can say is Thank God for modern technology.  Our son is serving his second tour in Iraq and I speak to him several times a week on instant messenger.  He was supposed to get out this August but got the stop loss so it will now be next summer but he is taking it like a man.  He is an Intelligence Analyst so is looking for the bad guys with a computer and a mouse.  At least once there he is fairly safe.

My Dad was also in the Army for 5 years in World War II (he was drafted before Pearl Harbor) but he had very little communication from home as that was before he knew my Mom.  My grandma had 5 sons in World War II at the same time. Again Thank God for modern technology.

I'm glad it had a happy ending and I'm glad that you told us to keep watching.  I'm really bad about reading ahead in a book (lol).

Hi, Missy:  I'm glad you saw this post.  My prayers for your sons..., for their safety and for their work in service to our country.  I know you are proud of them!

Thanks for reminding me that I should have posted the title and artist.  I have edited the post to include that now.  It is "Letters from War by Mark Schultz."

Have a blessed 4th holiday weekend.

Marchel:  I can't imagine what you and so many moms are going through with sons so far away.  God bless him!  Can you imagine having 5 sons in a war at the same time!  And without being able to get the news and communicate the way we can today!  I pray for the safe return of all those serving in our military today!

My attention span was gone about 90 seconds into this video, so I didn't see the ending.  But I echo the sentiments in your blog post.  So true.

Jan,

This is a beautifulsong!  It brings tears to my eyes every time I hear it! My husband a "singer" was asked to sing this song at a luncheon for mothers of our military soldiers on Mother's Day this year! Not a dry eye in that room, but it was definitely an honor for him to sing for them.  Thanks for posting the video of this great song! Have A Happy Fourth Too!

Michelle:  You are a lucky lady to be married to a singer!  Hopefully you get to enjoy both his rehearsing and performing.  How sweet that he sang for military moms!  I don't think I could get through this one if I were trying to sing it.  I love that part where she and the little boy 'hug' ... sweet vidoe and beautiful song.

Thanks for commenting tonight.  Have a great 4th weekend.
