The Debate Over AI-Generated Content

By

Artificial Intelligence(AI) is rapidly growing in popularity and use due to advancements in its accessibility. Many businesses are now starting to realize the potential benefits of using AI to create content. The technology is becoming more sophisticated and advanced every year, making it an increasingly viable option for businesses looking to streamline their content creation process.

But should you jump on the bandwagon and start using AI content generation for your business?

Like any technology, there are pros and cons, and it's important to consider both before deciding what's right for your business. The complexity of what today's AI is capable of equates to equally complex problems. From lack of consistency in the quality output to moral dilemmas regarding the replacement of human artistic talent. The fact is technology this flexible is still not a fit for every business and every need.

So it’s up to leaders to identify the needs of their businesses and decide how suitable, or limited, the capabilities of AI are to them. Here are three reasons to consider AI for content creation, and three reasons to be weary of it.

Upsides of using AI to create content:

1. Efficiency

One of the biggest advantages of using AI to create content is that it can save businesses a significant amount of time and resources. AI algorithms can analyze data and create content in a fraction of the time it would take a human to do the same thing. This can free up employees to focus on more important tasks, such as strategy and innovation.

2. Personalization

AI can analyze a large amount of data and use it to create highly personalized content that is tailored to specific audiences. This can increase engagement and conversion rates, leading to better ROI.

3. Scalability

AI-generated content can be easily scaled to meet the needs of businesses of any size. Whether a business has a small team or a large one, AI can help them create more content, more efficiently.

Downsides of using AI to create content:

1. Lack of creativity

One of the biggest downsides of using AI to create content is that it may lack the creativity and originality that humans can bring. AI can only create content based on the data it has been given, and it may not be able to come up with new and innovative ideas on its own.

2. Quality control

The quality of AI-generated content may vary, and it can be challenging to ensure that the content is accurate, grammatically correct, and free of errors. This can lead to wasted resources and a loss of credibility if the content is of poor quality.

3. Ethical concerns

There are also ethical concerns surrounding the use of AI to create content. Some people argue that using AI to create content may lead to the loss of jobs for human writers and editors, which could be a negative impact on society.

Conclusion

Artificial Intelligence has the potential to revolutionize the way businesses create content. Technology is becoming more advanced and sophisticated every year, and businesses that take advantage of it can see significant benefits in terms of efficiency, personalization, and scalability.

However, it's important to consider the downsides and be aware of the limitations of AI-generated content and make sure you are complying with ethical considerations.

Ultimately, businesses should weigh the pros and cons and make an informed decision on whether or not to incorporate AI into their content strategy. No one can tell you what's best for your business, better than you can. Not even artificial intelligence.

Nice post. If AI is used for good it will be ok BUT there are those that will develop it to be used in detrimental ways, Daniel Ramsey

Aye, Daniel Ramsey it does. I wonder too.

I guess that applies to all sorts of technology too, but AI can get smarter as it learns algorithms and patterns — makes me wonder how this will go in a few more years!

AI may prove useful for some businesses, but for anyone that need more personalization it won't take the place of a feeling author.

Completely agree! I think it's a great supplemental tool used to fill some gaps but not completely relied on for our efforts! Nothing beats a human!

Hello Daniel - AI is an important topic.  First, to be aware of its existence.  Secondly, how will it impact real estate.  Now and in the future.  And thirdly - there's much more to learn.

Yes! I think AI will come in handy for us eventually, but it might be useful for some tasks here and there (at the moment) — to supplement and support what we produce and create. So much to learn!

HI Daniel this is the 'topic of the year' for sure!  I keep seeing and reading more and more AI and the pro's and con's. Making sure the 'AI content' is actually factual is going to be an interesting challenge for many - if they don't take the time to fact check.  For instance - I heard a funny one the other day about who was the President between 2016 and 2020.  Wrong! And there is that other little bugger which isn't anything new - canned content - that we see over and over on site after site.  Boring.

Daniel Ramsey  I don't think the public is that easy to fool. They can tell when something is canned .

Yes Hannah Williams — most people glance through or just skim and focus on a few things, so AI-generated content can easily pass for the real thing! Have you seen those AI-generated photos of people at events? Surprisingly realistic, until you see small details like 6 fingers and weird smiles... but some people didn't even notice!

This brings us back to quality control. Even if AI is getting better, we still need to check out the results and tweak those before using them.

Nothing beats a human!

I've always believed that AI is just created in order to create new content. Something related to photos and videos. Now I'm reading more and more about technologies like Edge AI platform, which, for example, can count the number of some objects, compile statistics, collect data and so on. This is very convenient, because a person can not waste time on this complex work.
