It's been some time since I posted a 'green' article on my blog! I like 'green', and I've always considered myself a conservationist, so whenever and wherever and however I can save money, time, resources, etc...it makes sense to do so!!!
Perhaps my first real 'green jolt' came back in the seventies, when I observed a good friend of mine sewing tea bags in half in her living room...she would then cut them between the seams, and voila...one tea bag became two tea bags...get the idea? Maybe a little extreme on the 'frugal meter', but nonetheless evoking serious thought and deliberation...from that moment on, I became interested in
preservation, frugality, conservation, personal responsibility, and common sense ways of appreciating God's gifts and not abusing them!
Don't get me wrong, I'm not a fanatical political exponent that believes using 'fossil fuels' is anti-green! I believe that God has graced our land with tremendous natural resources...and I believe we should use these resources responsibly and thankfully! I'm all for drilling in ANWR and wherever else we can to reduce our reliance on foreign despots and those seeking to capitalize on our financial independence!
That said, I still believe anything we can do to become respecters of our natural resources we ought to do with the 'corporate' mentality that these resources belong to all of us! If it means conserving energy by turning unused lights off, or fuel by driving more responsibly, or even sewing tea bags in half, let's resolve to do it!
This morning, I'm having new tires replaced on my vehicle...BTW, at a great place to buy tires or have routine service performed on your automobile...for $2.00 dollars per tire they're inflating them with Nitrogen gas instead of 'compressed air'...my tires will run cooler, more efficiently, handle better, and yield more mileage through their life...plus, compressed air has been shown to deteriorate a tire from within (a kind of 'rubber rot'), cause tires to run much hotter which can result in premature failure and excessive wear, and make for unconsistent inflation!
This is not a 'big deal'...but it's a start!
If two hundred million others would do the same, what an impact this would make...on safety, fuel economy, tire economy, and handling!
I've written about this before, and was able to raise some awareness and interest in the use of Nitrogen...a fairly abundant, safe, and inert gas plentiful in our atmosphere!
I'm not advocating painting your tires green...but consider this next time you need tires!

God..I've never seen so much green these days...green bulbs, solar heating, green tea, green lawns.....everything is green here!
