What you need to know before you book your next flight...
Starting on August 1, 2008 those passengers flying on United Airlines in the Economy cabin will be charged $3.00 for chips, cookies, candy and trail mix, all for $3.00 each. Snacks will be 4 to 5 ounces in size. United Airlines will also be raising the price of alcoholic beverages in the Economy cabin from $5.00 to $6.00 each.
For now those passengers not wishing to purchase their onboard snacks United will continue to offer 1/2 ounce bags of pretzels and an assortment of juices, sodas, coffee and tea at no charge at this time.
US Airways will be charging for their onboard beverages in the Economy cabin begining August 1, 2008. The price will be $2.00 and $7.00 for alcoholic beverages purchased in the Economy cabin after August 1, 2008.
Southwest Airlines is not currently charging these fees to their passengers.
